I was wondering if anyone can figure out what the pickup and EQ setting are to get a bass tone similar to the one in the original version of Simple Minds' Themes for Great Cities?

Is there a name for songs where it's the bass that takes on the more prominent role and the lead guitar is more of a background instrument? For Example Another One Bites the Dust, Seven Nation Army, Billie Jean, Guns of Brixton and Fools Gold come to mind.

Does anyone else think it would be good if, alongside the tabs themselves, it was the norm to have an explanation as to what settings and/or effects are good to use to achieve a similar sound, especially for bass tabs that have an unconventional sound to them due to effects?
