Fender Rumble Club

Very cool! I've got an earlier version of the NS Designs upright (it's called the CRM-4). Good sound, but it's hard to keep the bass and stand from wobbling, especially when playing with the bow. I have to put one of my feet on one leg of the stand to keep it kinda sorta steady. Back on topic, I'll bet the Rumble 500 handles both of those big guns just fine.

This stand is pretty sturdy. Haven’t had any wobble issues. And yea, sounds great through the Rumble. I usually use a small preamp that attaches to the back of the bass. Gives me a bit more output and low end. But didn’t use it tonight, but still sounded fine.

Nice short scale! I just spent about a half hour researching the Lakland HB-30 after I saw yours.
Yeah. I'm a short scale guy (3 of my 4 basses), but dieeeeyam, now I want one of these in burst. The pups aren't located exactly J bass style, but I've been GASing for a shorty J bass, and this just might do.

Not stupid at all, @Giffro -- you may be onto something. Maybe there's some kind of a weight I can attach to one or more of the legs of the stand. I'll think about that. Pass me a Guinness...
You can buy dedicated weight/sand bags from photography suppliers or Amazon, that are filled with ballast and hung on lighting stands to keep them stable. I have a couple here, for my photography setup, something like that should work for what you want. EDIT - haha, I should also mention I have two of the NS basses, and until now didn't think of this at all as a way to stabilise them!

I started out with the Rumble 100, which in my opinion is a perfect home practice amp. Tons of tone shaping options, aux in, phones out, size/weight, etc.

I recently started practicing with a 50s/60s rock and roll cover band and I had to turn the 100 up a little too much for my taste. So I remedied that problem by picking up a used Rumble 500 for $350 :D

Only a slight increase to size/weight and it solved the issue. In fact, at the next practice, I brought the 500 and setup like usual, the guys didn't notice the difference until we started to play :roflmao:
You guys must play really loud. I've used my 100 for many practices and even some small venue gigs. For larger venues, I go into the PA. I have a 500c and a 500 head, but I haven't used them for months.

Thanks for the tip, I will check them out.

My Rumble 100 arrived yesterday, sounds great with the EUB so far. DI output seems clean as well.

How does the Rumble 500 sound with a Tech 21 Sansamp?

Playing in front or through the FX loop?

Thanks

I don't know about the Sansamp, except that it's got a great reputation. And there are several Rumblers here that like it, too. Here are some Rumblers posting about their Sansamp, some have even found it unnecessary with their Rumble!

But for the last 8 years my Rumble 500 combo alone has sounded just wonderful for everything I've used it for. I love a simple setup.

Luke, we'd be glad to help if you're considering a Rumble acquisition.

I run a SansAmp VTDI into my Rumble 200's Effects loop and love it.

Hey thanks @G-Dog! Mostly playing at home for writing and recording purposes, though I'm also a music tech writer so all gear can be considered 'work' if necessary! I moved over exclusively to EUBs at the end of 2020, and I'm having a great time. This club helped me commit to a Rumble, after years of just playing through monitors. Great source of information, happy to be here!

For some reason unlike some other Fender amps any presets you make or save can't be shared on their website.
However, I don't know if each preset you creates a file, so I don't see what stops people sharing them, or people (myself included) could just write down our presets and share what we did?

Question for the Rumble hive mind . . .

I currently have a 500c that I keep in the rehearsal space for one band (country), a Markbass CMD102P I keep at the rehearsal space for my other band (classic rock), and I was using a Rumble 200 head with my 210 cab for practice at home. This setup allows me to leave my practice rigs in place, and not take a 40 minute drive to either location to drag gear out and back for gigs - I just grab the setup I have at home and go.

The 200 head appears to have gone Tango Uniform in that while I get great sound in my headphones, there’s no output to the speaker. I checked the boards and there’s no apparent damaged components, and I cleaned all the jacks, still no joy.

I’m looking to replace the 200 head, and used 200/350/500 heads seems to have been plunged into the LaBrea tar pits, as they simply aren’t to be found. there are a bazillion heads out there, but I’d spend as much on a decent quality head as I would a combo unit, which offers redundancy to my different configurations IMHO.

I can get a used 200c for around $400 locally, a new one for just under $600, or get a new 500c for a little more than that. I’m also looking at the Ampeg Rocketbass combos, all at competitive prices to the Rumbles, but have yet to try one out.

Thoughts?

You could get the Rumble 200 Combo and stack it on top of the 2x10 at home to get the full 200 watts out of it. The 200 combo is a great amp on its own also! Your 2x10 cabinet pairs extremely well with the 200 and 500, so you could use it with either when you play live. If you ever play outdoors, the 500 and the 2x10 would be a killer setup! I'm not a fan of the Ampeg sound because it was just missing something in its overall range for me. I prefer the fullness of the Rumbles.
