Fender Rumble Club

Nice!

I wonder if they would sell a lot of Rumble Preamp/DI boxes? Sounds like people use a small Rumble amp for that purpose with of course an included monitor speaker there. But just a DI box could be useful. And people would probably buy one as a pedal to put in front of and change the sound of their non-Rumble amp….
I think you're on to something there!

Excuse to upgrade? We don't need no stinkin' excuse. Or to replicate, in my case. I've been going through withdrawal 'cause my Rumble 40 is currently living in the theater where I'm playing in the pit for La Cage Aux Folles. Four more weeks, and another theater gig in the works soon after that. So today I went over to my local GC and traded in an old speaker cab I don't need any more, for another Rumble 40. So I can Rumble at home, or wherever else I need to, whilst my first Rumble 40 is camping out in theaters. Definitely a first world problem, and it's nice to be able to afford this stuff. Rumble on....

Awesome John Stephen!

I started out with the Rumble 100, which in my opinion is a perfect home practice amp. ... ... I had to turn the 100 up a little too much for my taste. So I remedied that problem by picking up a used Rumble 500. ... ... the guys didn't notice the difference until we started to play :roflmao:

"Mo' Rumbles is mo' bettah!", to quote an old Rumble Club phrase. :smug:

I guess one bassist's "plenty" is another's "not enough". But when the drummer is telling you to turn up, that's just the excuse I needed to upgrade ha

"Different strokes for different folks." YMMV. Rumbles 15, 25, 40, Studio 40, 100, 200, 500 800 HD, Stage 800. "Variety is the spice of life." Diversification! Etc. ... ...

Hmmm, yes ... Wonder how the Fender Downtown Express is selling?

If they had the Studio/Stage stuff in a pedal/preamp I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Well, it pre-dates the Studio/Stage a bit, and is 6-string oriented, and has been discontinued, but the Fender Mustang Floor Multi-Effects Pedal is still out on the used market.

And the Fender Downtown Express is still current, but also 6-string oriented. Can You Use Fender Mustang Micro With A Bass?

Very cool! I've got an earlier version of the NS Designs upright (it's called the CRM-4). Good sound, but it's hard to keep the bass and stand from wobbling, especially when playing with the bow. I have to put one of my feet on one leg of the stand to keep it kinda sorta steady. Back on topic, I'll bet the Rumble 500 handles both of those big guns just fine.

Hey @John Stephen One of my drummers used a couple of medium sized sand bags in front of his bass drum to stop it moving forward on smooth stages...I guess a couple of small heavy sand bags like that wouldnt work on the base of the stand to keep it stable?...probably a stupid suggestion..I blame the Guinness I just had loll

I'm new to TB...hope this 4003 & tweedy looking Rumble 60 gets me into the Rumble club![

It sure does, Lane! @Lane100, you are now member #1467 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

Did you buy this tweed Rumble 60 from a TalkBass member? The author of this thread says he did that cover job.

And I've seen other similar cover jobs:

Please tell us a bit about yourself, Lane, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. Whatever your situation you're going to fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to. ... ... ...

Rumble On!

I did this one myself...I saw a photo of the one that M.R. Ogle posted on here and was so impressed that I tried to copy it. There's a few minor differences. I actually posted a responded to M.R. Ogle's post to thank him for the inspiration, but I just finished this one today!

That's fantastic, Lane! I can't see a difference. I do see now where you posted another pic at the end of that thread, though. You gits skilz, mon!

How's about your bass background?

Shhhh.....I mostly play guitars....but had an Ibanez bass a while back with a Fender Bassman 100 and one of those giant bass cabs that're like the size of a refrigerator and weigh about the same. I decided to get another bass mainly for recording but enjoy playing. I decided this time I would get something nice. I have Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, and a Martin....but never had a Rickenbacker. I always wanted one. I have a good friend that has one and a long time ago a friend I played music with had an awesome Mapleglow 4001. So...here I am.

As to my Rumble 60...I wanted a decent sounding amp for the Rick and settled on a old Rumble that wasn't too heavy and had a 12" speaker. I googled Rumble 60's on line and the photo of the one M.R.Ogle had posted on here a few years back popped up. I thought..."I want that!" I have re-done some amps in the past so as soon as I verified that this was working...I ordered the materials and set about peeling off the "Rat Fur".

Again, M.R.Ogle deserves credit for the concept, and I brazenly stole as many ideas from his work as I could (why re-invent the wheel?) and am pleased with the outcome. I installed carpet inside the sound box, use the old style logo and figured out how to replace the black plastic handle with the brown "dog bone" style. If you look closely at the pattern in the tweed you can see the direction of the pattern is a little different on the two amps. I just eye-balled the opening for the grill based on M.R.Ogle's original since I liked it.
