Fender Rumble Club

Hi Rumble Members.
I decided to do something that I should have done a few years ago. Look into the founding of this club.
If you look at the top of the page where it states FENDER RUMBLE CLUB..you will notice this underneath the club title..."Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by BumbleB, Mar 26, 2013."
I clicked on BumbleB's nic and discovered it could possibly be a girl (simply because she is member #75 of the Girl Bass Players Club) so rightly or wrongly I decided it might be a lady or girl bass player.
The information tab on this bass player states all of this....

from aurora, colorado

Cruise made for VMI 4 string electric bass

mainly rock (classic, 80's 90's alternative), but love expanding my musical horizon

Alto and second soprano in the church band, with bass in the future.

Influences and Teachers:
Cliff Burton
Sean Yseult
Flea
Roger Waters
Most of all, my brother David. May he always rock on at the great gig in the sky, RIP!

What has actually happened to BumbleB since the last entry nearly 3 years ago is anyone's guess but I do believe we owe this wonderful Talkbass Member a vote of gratitude for starting this club, which 9 years later almost to the day is flourishing with Rumble owners.

Yep, Giffy! Ms. BumbleB did a really good thing founding our beloved Fender Rumble Club on just her 6th day of being on TalkBass! Did you know that the thread title at the top of every page originally had a question mark at the end? "Fender Rumble Club?" That's right, she was looking for it, not necessarily to start it! Yet, here we are.

Whew! These hallowed pages are just chock-full, chock-FULL! I tell you, of interesting and useful Rumblings. Why, I can't hardly look back on any of our "historical documents" here without getting distracted reading about several more topics than what I was searching for!!! It's just that informative, entertaining and downright interesting! Try it, you might like it.

Congratulations, Rumblers, on your illustrious TB heritage. Thank you for keeping on keeping on. And remember to ... ... ...

Linn's antagonistic opinions against anything but Fender upset too many experts, and he paid the price is all I know. He certainly was a Fender advocate, but his defensive (and often offensive) style got him in too much trouble. He is missed, but on TalkBass you need to go by the rules or you wont be on TalkBass..simple. The subject is best dropped in that case.

It's been two years since I last heard from Linnin. His is a cautionary tale of TB rule violation and non-repentance. Since most of his transgressions occurred here in The Club, he was permanently suspended from just (t)his beloved Club! Though free to post elsewhere on TB, he has drifted away from TB completely, only to still occasionally post on fB. :rollno:

I have a question for all you electronic genii. I'm gigging my R200c for the 1st time soon and BL wants to connect it to his mixer/PA, yada, yada... In tracking down the "appropriate" connector, I'm getting conflicting info from various retail sources. For reference, distance 25' or less. Could not find the answer on the Wiki (or the Google, for that matter...)

So the question is, xlr-xlr balanced (and is that the same as "mic cord?"), line-level xlr-xlr (and is there such a thing?) or xlr-1/4" line-level? This is all new to me so all the the tech-y stuff is leaving me befuddled...

Any mic cable that has XLR ends will do. An XLR cable is indeed a balanced cable. It will also transmit a line level. Basically the answer to all your questions is yes, absolutely. And you can safely run up more length if you need it. You can plug a few mic cable together if needed.

There are also cables that have XLR on one end and 1/4 inch TRS (tip ring sleeve) on the other end. They are also balanced as long as they go into a balanced 1/4-inch input on the board.

For ease of operation, an XLR mic cable is perfect and absolutely the correct cable.

Since I only aspire to be a musical genie, and not an electronic genius, my position is this:

It's your mixer/PA, ... ...
so you must know what you need. ... ...
and have it with your stuff.

I run from either my Sansamp or my R100 (xlr out) to my BL’s mixing board then out to the PAs (though half the time I just let my R100 do all the work as it’s plenty) and we don’t have subs, so I do have to sometimes EQ the amp in odd fashion to get decent tone.
