Your 2x10 cabinet pairs extremely well with the 200 and 500, so you could use it with either when you play live. If you ever play outdoors, the 500 and the 2x10 would be a killer setup! I'm not a fan of the Ampeg sound because it was just missing something in its overall range for me. I prefer the fullness of the Rumbles.

I would agree with this idea for its versatility. Or you could get one of these(least expensive mini head I found):

I can get a used 200c for around $400 locally, a new one for just under $600, or get a new 500c for a little more than that. I’m also looking at the Ampeg Rocketbass combos, all at competitive prices to the Rumbles, but have yet to try one out.

And, ajuk, you should also consult our Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 sub-thread for bass modeling discussions. For example, @JAC70 has posted a decoding of the stock LT25 presets. Perhaps you could use that form to document your newly created presets, too?

Sierra, the speakers are supposed to mute when using headphones for quiet practice to not disturb others. If you're not getting any sound from the speakers without headphones try these diagnostics:

A. Plug an instrument cable into the FX Send and the FX Return jacks. This bypasses the cut-off switch in the FX Return jack that can get corroded and cut-off signal to the power amp. If this helps, you just need to clean the FX Return jack with a small swab of contact cleaner.

2. Also, make sure the Drive and Level controls are not turned all the way down to zero with the Overdrive engaged. Some Rumblers use that as a "mute switch", since it turns off the speakers.

Hi G-Dog, I'll give the Send/Return fix a try. I knew about the Overdrive/Mute function after reading about it here. Also, I am already a member of the Rumble Club (#1268), but thanks for watching out for me! Glad to be part of this group, I've learned (and laughed) a lot here!

I tried the FX loop, and while there is sound, it sounds like the speakers are blown on the 210, and it's worse when I select one of the sound shapes (Contour, Vintage, etc.). On top of that, I have to crank the gain and Master up to past noon on the dial, and the volume is nowhere what I would expect in the small room I practice in. Of course the distortion is that much worse also (it sounds like the speakers are farting if I play anything below a B on the E string). I plugged the 210 to my 500c and got perfect sound so I know it's not the 210 cabinets (purchased new just a year ago). Thanks for the ideas everyone, I'll tinker with it little more, but it is appearing like there might be another new Rumble on the horizon!

Gig tonight at a new venue-for us. Ft. Pierce, FL Elks Club. Taking this rig(TBird>R100). I'll find out if I'll need the R200c for the next time.

And, I assume the manufacturer's warranty is lapsed? Well, if you gotta get a new head, I'd recommend the Rumble 800 HD. It may be more power than you usually need, but your Rumble 210 cab can handle the 400 watts if you do crank it. You could do a lot worse!
