    Strings Options for Multicsale bass

Two 36s and three 34s fitted my Combustion perfectly. And the sound is delicious!

    Strings Options for Multicsale bass

    Thanks @aff , the photos are very helpful! I found single strings discounted at Fret Nation, so I ordered 2 x 36 (B, E) and 3 x 34 (A, D G). Can't wait to put them on!

    Strings Options for Multicsale bass

Hey @singlemalt I'm just picking up on this old thread because you said you had used mixed sets of TI flats for Dingwalls. Is that just 4-stringers? I'm wondering whether their longest-scale low B (JF36136) will fit my Combustion 5 (37").

    Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

The 7Pro I bought new in 2010 or 2011 went pop today after cutting out repeatedly. Looking back through this forum, I guess there's a known issue with an IC on the main board. My main board is rev B (the amp is rev A01) so perhaps I'm lucky it lasted this long! I have the skills and equipment...

    Table Saw Safety

I'm new to this thread. I'm a woodworking bass player, but have never (yet) built a guitar. I build furniture, but only as a hobby, so there's no productivity pressure. I got rid of my table saw some years ago, and mitre saw even earlier. I have a decent band saw that is far less violent for...

    Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

The Dingwall is the best bass I have owned. The big contrast between the series and parallel pickup switch positions makes it very versatile. But to be honest I'm still on a tone hunt. I've renovated my MTD Z5 and put flats on it. And I use my Samick fretless 5 with semi-rounds quite a bit too...

600W, but I haven't ventured past 2 o'clock on the master. Especially with the Dingwall!

    Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

My 7Pro has been paired with a Mesa 4x10 since 2010. I can feel the growl in the backs of my knees. But I'm thinking of switching to a Barefaced cab - any tips?

V-Drum kick thru the bass cab?

    Thanks, that's helpful.

V-Drum kick thru the bass cab?

Thanks @Wasnex. I suspect bass reinforcement by the floor depends a lot on the nature of the floor, and the first article you linked seems to back that up. But no question that a subwoofer would fatten up the kick. We'll probably get to that point sooner or later.

V-Drum kick thru the bass cab?

In a previous band with a loud acoustic drummer I ended up with an SVT7 + Mesa 4x10 in order to be heard. Now I'm with a really good v-drummer and he's the one struggling to get his kick heard out front. We have 15" FOH mains on a 400W/ch amp. Before we start spending good money and muscle on a...

    Headstock Bias

I don't know what you're all complaining about. I've been scowling at this monstrosity for years, but despite being a miserable job to tune, this old Samick sounds quite good and a replacement fretless never reaches the top of my priority list. I'll probably end up building one instead. It damn...

    The unavailability of strings

Totally agree. But I can't expect a little store in Nanaimo, BC (even Long & McQuade) to stock extra-long 5-string half-rounds just for me to buy one every 10 years. They could order for me, but the effort of a 1-off for them is probably not worth the slim profit margin. And might take longer...

    Bass for each style

The only reason I have more than one bass is that no-one has the patience for me to remove frets and change strings between songs.
