What was the bass you learned your first song on?

Mustang Sally (by ear with the help of a drummer's kick pedal) on a new 1965 Fender Jazz Bass in 1966, soon stolen from our rehearsal studio in Jamaica Queens NY

How crazy is it to have 5 basses and not gig??

Are these very similar instruments? I don't gig any more and I own 4, my '63 Jazz an '86 P Bass Lyte, a 66 J neck on a 59 body with the frets filed down, and a Guild electric/acoustic. People collect things that they enjoy, if you're not hurting for the money, then, problem solved.....

Poll: Why do I have a Tube Amp if everybody always takes me DI

It's always best to keep your options open. Trust your engineer at live gigs, maybe miking your cabinet will sound better, maybe the DI, or quite possibly a combination of the two. 5 string Bass

CBS bought out Fender in 1965 and it's generally agreed that the quality of the instruments took a deep dive, SO, Pre CBS is a big deal. Any P Bass or J bass pre 1965 is more valuable (to players and collectors, significantly more) than 65 or after. Then there's 'original' meaning Tuners...

Bathroom Emergency in the Middle of a set?

It seems to me that this is an issue of youth my only thought is that this is something that will only happen to you once as I'm quite certain you'll never allow it to happen again. Politicians and public speakers (probably cops on stakeouts as well) are educated in piss jars as they can often...

List all the amps you owned in order.

Ampeg B 15 (new) 1965? Universal, a small NY company that lasted just a few years. They used Sam Ash amps and put their name on it. Vox Super Foundation (amp and cab) bought in 1969 in Antwerp Belgium Fender Bassman head, used. First stock then boosted to 60 Watts by Randy Smith at Prune Music...
