Are these very similar instruments? I don't gig any more and I own 4, my '63 Jazz an '86 P Bass Lyte, a 66 J neck on a 59 body with the frets filed down, and a Guild electric/acoustic. People collect things that they enjoy, if you're not hurting for the money, then, problem solved.....

It's always best to keep your options open. Trust your engineer at live gigs, maybe miking your cabinet will sound better, maybe the DI, or quite possibly a combination of the two. I've been playing a 63 Jazz Bass for many years, I love it. One reason is the width of the neck, I love the sound of a P bass as well but have never been comfortable with it's neck. I'm thinking about a 5 string and am on the hunt for a high end narrow neck 5 string, any suggestions?
