So I recently changed my bridge pickup and I needed to resolder both of my P and J pickups because both were wired on top of the same pot. Not a big deal. until i recently noticed that both of my Volume knobs are essentially On and Off switches they both at a 100% are the loudest as possible...

I'm using 100 Guage flatwounds and dropping C their a little floppy but sound good. but in general can floppy strings have affect on tone?

Im soldering it tomorrow basically the black wires for both pickups were on the neck. should i resolder the new pickup to where it was before or do what the seymour duncan wiring diagram does and wire it to the bridge pickup, I just don't want to screw up lol
