My EMG-X Mikro project bass (which this thread sucked me into...thank you all) made its first appearance out in the wild. I am recovering from a recent surgery so honestly it only got to go along because it is just so silly lightweight. My Doctor would probably be pissed I played a gig either...
Sorry old-ish thread but so proud of this kid…started him at 9 on a Mikro. Now he rocks a Sterling short scale in jazz band and plays upright in orchestra.
Goose is my formal wear. This is me sticking to the no flip flops and shorts rule even when it so f-ing hot I anticipated and perhaps even longed for death.
Based on what others here had done I went with a Gotoh 203B-4. The front two holes aligned. I used wood filler in the back four holes and drilled pilot holes for the five required with the Gotoh. The tuners are Gotoh GB707, perfect fit.
I can’t be trusted. First I impulse bought another Mikro (see above) next thing you know it has EMG-X pickups, new bridge, tuners, hardware, Chrome flats. So much for a good deal!! Going to gig with it this weekend because, why not?
I did impulse buy an Adorama special and it arrived today. Not much time to mess with it but it was made in Indonesia and the QC tag had December 2020 dates on it. Maybe a lost shipment led to the deal. Looks pretty good so far.
Absolutely works and makes a difference. I think the biggest benefit is knocking down RFI from sources that may not be constant. Like many LED and CFL lights produce, especially with dimmers. A good connection between the shielded cavities and ground is critical as well. Shielding a pickup...
I went ahead and installed the EMG MMCS. I don’t know if the ivory was a good call just yet but I couldn’t resist. The battery fit best under the lower pot position. If these are like my 30 year old EMG J set the battery should last a long time. Thought about keeping a fake pot there to...
