    Fender Squier Sonic Series

Yeah! I bit too. Probably a noisy single coil but if the tone's OK I got a Electro Harmonix Hum Debugger to make it giggable. Mine's coming to Philadelphia PA. I did buy the Sonic limited Edition P bass & was impressed though I'll probably change the pickup. Nice Utility P.

CIJ Mustang bass vs 1972 Musicmaster Bass

Get the CIJ Mustang. The Musicmasters were one of the crappiest basses ever to wear the Fender logo. It's a shame. With a good pickup, etc. they could have been decent. You'll have to spend more $$$ to make the Musicmaster practical. I'm surprised what people pay for them but vintage Fender...

    Advantages of preamp pedals

I do this a lot with a Zoom MS60. A SansAmp bass driver did a good job too, The Behringer knockoff(bdi21?) did an a decent job for this purpose too. Bypass the rental amplifier's preamp through the send of the effects loop(If it has one)

First the Vinyl Revival then the Cassette Revival, then….

You'd be shocked what commercially released reel to reel tapes fetch price wise. Especially the Rock & R&B & Jazz titles. In the '60's & '70's record labels released their popular artists on reel to reel as well as vinyl & 8 track tapes(pre cassette.that wasn't until the '70's)...

Have you ever tallied how many basses you have owned over the years?

I know it's been over fifty. Been changing basses since 1966.

    Squiers are superior!!

I just got a Squire Sonic "Limited Edition" P bass in green. Did three gigs with it. Round wounds on one gig. Flats on the other two. Solid utility P. Reminded me of a 1955 P bass single coil I used to have. Aggressive pickup, These are nicer then the Affinity & I got my eye on the Blue one...

Public Service (Squier Affinity Series Jaguar Bass H

Got one just in time. Gigged it for a couple of sets Saturday. The pickup is one of the loudest I ever encountered but there's practically no clarity even with the top end boosted. Real midrange grunt. It's one of the easiest playing basses I ever had. Setup & played great right out of the box...

    Fender Showman Amp For Bass

I was in a wedding/banquet band & used a Fender Showman with a single JBL D140F cabinet that belonged to the sax player. Loved the tone(1975 P bass) & was plenty loud enough for that band, Was really disappointed when the sax player sold it to another bass player without telling me first. I...

Glarry has a new 6 string bass

Good Man! Let us know. I abhor anything that's not a 4 string. I'm too chicken poopie to try a 5 stringer but a 6 string at that price? Hmmm............!

    Anybody ever been on TV?

Norristown PA. The Satisfied Minds were my 1st band. They were handled by some guy from near Allentown named Bill Grieb. Used to play up there a bit. lot of teen clubs in those days. That Ed Hurst show had a big Allentown Pa connection. One of the co hosts was an Allentown AM DJ named Gene...

    Anybody ever been on TV?

I think the Ed Hurst show was taped in Channel 29's studio. We went there a week before to record our tune to lip sync to. Taped the show on a weeknight. I remember 29 was a UHF station & my home TV didn't have UHF. so I went to a neighbor's to watch it. It was broadcast late Saturday afternoon...
