I think the "B" designates "Bass" as they have a mls130 violin, so I assume it means bass, i'm not 100% though. And yes i'd say this is comparable to the sb200 "willow" from shen.

My GGi4 has arrived! #1442. After ten years of wanting one, its everything I could've hoped for! I've seen many Rainbow Trouts but this is by far the coolest one I've seen. And @Bipslapper our basses share the same quilted top! Thank you @GeoffGould for this incredible bass.

According the the sticker in the neck pocket its actually an 81. They used the S9 serial numbers several years in the 70s and through some of the 80s builds.
