Ampeg SVT-CL Bias Lights and slight buzz

Verify that the cable is a speaker cable. It is often difficult to tell the difference. Also, with an SVT it is good to use a thick speaker cable. The thicker the cable, the less noisy it is.

Ampeg SVT-CL Bias Lights and slight buzz

It sounds like you may be using an instrument cable instead if a shielded speaker cable. Using an instrument cable instead of a speaker cable will destroy the head and cabinet.

Thank you for your help. The metal dowel sounds like the best option. I will let you know how it works out.

1997 Stingray bass with no toggle switch

I have a 1997 Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray bass. It is my #1 instrument. It weighs less than eight pounds. I don't understand why every other Stingray that I see has a toggle switch. I don't need the toggle, but I don't understand why I have never seen another one like it. How do they...

    1981 G&L L2000 Series E

I have the exact bass from the exact year with the exact finish and I would never part with it! I have LaBella flats on it. Mine has so many finish cracks in it that it looks like a honey-colored disco ball. It isn't in the besst condition, but it plays like a dream and sounds better than any...

Double Bass 1/4 Kay bass, endpin too short!

One day, I was browsing the 'musical instruments' section of craigslist. I found what was listed as a 3/4 bass for $250.00. I replied and got a call back a few hours later. I was told that the bass was actually a 1/2 bass. I thought about how this solved the portability issue and promptly...

    Tried to sell my bass

Personally, I own eleven bass guitars, thirty guitars, and a bunch of other gear. (must be why I'm still single) Sounds like you need more than one girlfriend. Give her some competetion...that will shut her up pretty fast. If you truly love her, it won't bother you when she gives you an...

ZVEX SUPER HARD ON, on bass?

I'm going to run mine through my vintage GK 400b (not RB) as soon as I get it. I bought one used at Guitar Center a week ago but since it came in that day, there's a 15 day waiting period before I can take it home. I can't wait to hear my T-40 through the SHO and in to a 1976 GK 400b. I'm...

Trouble with G.K head unit going dead onstage

I had this happen to me. I took apart the amp and saw that two leads had come loose from the board. I soldered them back in and it fixed the problem. It took me longer to take the amp apart than it did for me to do the soldering. I hope this helps.

    Another one off Evil Bay

The best way to date it is to call Peavey. They use some strange code for all of their USA basses, I had them date my Patriot Bass and my T-40. Flats will work fine for Prog. Steve Harris used flats with Iron Maiden early on, I'm told, so as long as you have a decent head or EQ it shouldn't...

    Another one off Evil Bay

LaBella Deep Talkin' Bass strings are 30-40 bucks on the internet. GuitarCenter will charge you 50 if they have them in stock. Flats sound great on that bass. It will minimize the time until you need a refret and you can get the action a little lower. LaBella strings sound better the longer...

    Help with EH Q-tron +

Thanks. This will be helpful. Still looking for a Q-Tron + 'guts' pic just to be safe. Some of the wires are different colors and/or missing.

    Another one off Evil Bay

The T-40 rocks! Put LaBella Flatwounds on it. I have a late 70's T-40 with the Toaster pickups. They switched to Blade style pickups in 1980. Both sound great. This is my go-to passive bass. I take it to nearly every gig. They are starting to climb in value and they are getting harder to...

    Basic Funk Board, Advise Please!

Flatwound strings are a good place to start. Here is my funk rig: Lots of envelope filters. My board has a DigiTech Bass Synth Wah, A EH Micro Q-Tron, A HAZ Mu-Tron, A Modded DOD FX-25B, A Malekko Chicklet Reverb (for when I play baritone) A modded Big Muff Pi (for analog synth sounds) I run a...
