Tried to sell my bass

the facts:
im dating a girl i will probably marry.
my dad just got out of a divorce with my mom.
he told to buy everything i wanted before i got married.
that is why i have 5 basses, working on selling some and buying more.
my girlfriend doesnt like all my toys, but she cant do a whole lot about it.

ps-nice looking bass you have there, it looks lonely.
maybe you should work on some friends.
;)

Your father is indeed a wise man...;)

Personally, I own eleven bass guitars, thirty guitars, and a bunch of other gear. (must be why I'm still single) Sounds like you need more than one girlfriend. Give her some competetion...that will shut her up pretty fast. If you truly love her, it won't bother you when she gives you an earful. If you don't lover her, it's time to make her squirm. Only you can make that call. Relationships are about reciprocity.

Yeh I have 3 basses, been playing only about 3 years, I am not in a band, and I don't have that much money to chuck around.

And yet, last month I was a little drunk- and on eBay, and bid on and won a Ric.

No regrets, I will be buried with it.:smug:

I am not sure what to do with my Squier P and VM J.

I have no girlfriend and maybe this is why.

Sell the Ric and get 15 Essexs!

I bought a new bass, so I went to my local shop to sell my old Squier VM P-bass, so that I could have groceries and such this week. Guy said he'd give me 100 bucks for it, and after some thought I walked out with new knobs and bridge/pickup covers. Groceries be damned, but boy was my wife pissed. "Why do you need two guitars?!?!"

Why indeed? I think it was worth it.

Ask her why she has 20 pairs of shoes?

Nah, man, you don't sell a bass for something consumable like groceries. That's similar to junkies who sell their cherished stuff for drugs...both will run out eventually and they'll be back where they were in no time.

Scrounge together what cash and pennies you can and go to Aldi. You can get a weeks worth of groceries for $20...

Once the bass is gone, the food will be gone shortly after. Then you'll be back to square 1, this time, without your bass to sell...so you'll sell something else...the cycle continues.

I once made a deal with myself to only use bass money for more solid purchases, like more bass gear, shoes, electronics, etc :bassist:

I think you just made more sense than anyone so far.

Not for nothing.... but since we are on the subject. Have you ever walked into your room, picked up a bass, messed around for a minute or two, set it down, picked up another ,noodled a bit, set that one down, then went over to the 3rd, picked up and played in the same fashon, put down and walked out? Not plugging one in at all? Then walked out not saying a word?

I heard my 13 year old daughter ask my wife," what the hell is the matter with dad?"as I left the room....................
