    MB800, No Speakers?

Hi- I have an issue and was wanting to ask your expert opinions... My question: Can I damage my GK MB800 head by not using speakers and just using the direct out? I perform in a newly-remodeled room. Unfortunately, there is no sound damping in the place. It's all wood and glass. I play with a...

HELP: Multiple Wireless IEMs in One Rack?

Old thread here... I've got an in a new Sennheiser IEM system, the Shure GLDX guitar system, and an older Senn EW100G2 mic in a single rack- along with my gkmb800. Other than the mic, it's been pretty darn flawless. With the mic, I'm upgrading to see if a newer one will be less prone to RF...

    Singing what you play

For me, and I'm relatively new as a bass player and play with a pick (so I think that means you instantly discount what I say...), my advice is: Learn the bass part first. Get it so it's super cemented and committed to muscle memory. Once you've done that, and can "forget it", Start singing over...

    Teacup Knobs Wont Fit?

3 years later... I was looking for this. If you have the ALL PARTS version, you want a 1.5 mm Hex Wrench and that'll undo the knob screw.

Reading bass music... why play that note?

Brian- learned the very basics of music in elementary school. Bass clef wasn't part of that. Timing was, but I learned it really little, never really used it again and forgot. Played guitar for 40 years and recently seriously took up the bass. As I mentioned in another post, as a rhythm...

Reading bass music... why play that note?

Oh, totally. I am reading all I can online and the timing thing will come. Eventually. it's just always been the thing that's not gel'd easy for me. And YES, I'd like to avoid tabs. I'd just rather learn to read properly. No offense meant to anyone that uses tab.

Reading bass music... why play that note?

A lot of sheet music is wrong. A lot of tabs are wrong. I usually don't rely on them at all. Never have. I am also a " by ear player". So it's basically that the tab is ONE way of doing it. If you've go the sheet music (or whenever you figure out a part) it's basically up to the player to play...

Reading bass music... why play that note?

I'm trying to teach myself to read bass music (as opposed to just being able to play by ear which has gotten me through to this point). I remember when trying to do this for guitar as a kid, I'd get confused by 2 things mostly: 1) The whole counting deal (reading notes and being able to count...

    Learning and memorizing bass lines...

I know the notes on the bass. I know guitar chords. But by sight on the neck, not by reading it. I mean, if I see sheet music with a C or Am over the staff or chord diagrams, I know what that is. But to see a piece of music, sans-chords listed above the staff, and I'd have a hard time. I'd LOVE...

    Learning and memorizing bass lines...

Latitude- It was more for the exercise than anything else, just because I hadn't done it and I'd actually like to learn my scales so that if I ever have to improvise, I'll know what the heck not to play. Now, having said that, when figuring out stuff, I don't usually think "Okay, this is a C#m...

    Learning and memorizing bass lines...

Lobster11- That was EXACTLY what I experienced. The notes where the chords fall are easy. It's CONNECTING them that is the issue. THOSE are the easily-forgettable, and often-times hard to figure out bits.

    Learning and memorizing bass lines...

Just an update since this seemed like a good topic for a few- So the reason I brought up the topic in the first place is that I've got about 30 tunes to learn for a new project. It's not the normal stuff that everyone learns (What I Like About Brown Eyed Freebird Mustangs that Still Like That...
