    Underappreciated Bassists in famous bands

Mars Cowling, bass player for Pat Travers. What a band that was....Pat Travers on guitar, Mars Cowling on bass and Tommy Aldridge on drums! Also honorable mention goes to Randy Jo Hobbs, bass player for Johnny Winter.

    Rickenbacker crooked pick ups

It's obvious that this thread has taken off, so it tells me that there is a lot of passion on this topic no matter what side you're on. My intention of posting this thread was not to slag Rickenbacker, I've got a 1973, 4001 and a 2005, 4003 and I love them both very much, not an issue on...

    Rickenbacker crooked pick ups

I was really pumped when I heard Rickenbacker is reissuing the 4003s model. I was excited to learn that my local music store received shipment of 4 of these basses. I bought the jetglo one they had, it sounded killer in the store! I brought it home and proceeded to do what I do to all my Ric...

    Rickenbacker stigma

Do yourself a favour and leave it the way it is! First; they are very rare, and if you tamper with it, you can lose a lot of money on resale. Second; I find the neck pick ups on Rics are muddy, I usually back off the neck pick up a bit when I play my 4003. I had a 1976 4000 in jetglo...biggest...

    Rickenbacker stigma

Ricks are definitely a "love it or hate it" bass. If you're not used to playing one, you'll find that they not very comfortable to play. However, with me they are like breaking in a new baseball glove, stiff at first, but once you've done all the little tweaks and got it set up the way you like...

Basses you would like to see reissued

Now that Rickenbacker reissued the 4003s, I would love to see them reissue the 4000. I had a 1976 in jetglo...biggest mistake I made was getting rid of it!

Hip Shot replacement bridge for Rickenbacker basses.

I don't have any issues, I'm just wondering if the hip shot bridge changes the tone...or perhaps makes it sound more aggressive. Does it play any better set up wise...etc.

    Low B clarity

I totally agree here...exposed core are the best strings for B - string articulation.

    DR Sunbeams First Timer

I've been using DR's for years on all my basses with the exception of my F-bass, which I use F-bass exposed core.

10 Most Overplayed Classic Rock Songs of All Time

Tom Sawyer? I've yet to see a band play Rush properly in a bar! Usually I'm heading for the door after the 3rd song of any Rush tribute band out there...

Eden Amps - Still Cool ??

I use to own a ton of Eden gear. Great sounding rigs! Had a WT800B that was a monster! The 610 XLT was a beast! I started changing my opinion on them when the WT1205 came out. I wasn't disappointed with tone, it was the power. I was rated at 1200 watts, but it wasn't very loud at all. A lot of...
