Saw this ad last night. Kinda funny to see a thread on it the next day.

As others have suggested, I went with the Fralin split single coil, new pots and Sozo mustard cap. and running Chromes flats. Definitely a tune up that makes me smile every time i dig into it.

I love my Sting P. I did eventually swap out the stock pickup with a Fralin split single coil, and overhauled the guts. Neck felt great. As for the Stinglay, it never bothered me, or kept me from traversing the fretboard.

Was pissed when i discovered Fuzzy Duck. As in " why wasnt this on the radio?" Bad first single i believe. And just recently the band Dust. Who put out two pretty cool albums.

I feel fortunate to have found this "place". Where even though we all play different styles, different brands of gear, even on different continents and languages. We all "talk bass". There are some great and helpful people on here, and it sounds like your friend was one of them. Im a fairly new...

I bought Megadeth's remastered Rust in peace to replace my old worn out cd. Was sorely disappointed in the new mixes. No bueno.

Finally made the leap to a 5er. And a Jazz to boot. Got it at a pawn shop for $225, still has the plastic on the pg. Cant wait for next band rehearsal. New set of flats and im set, Im thinking chomes.

Some insightful responses so far. Idk if a new buy will light the fire, maybe. Or just put em away for a bit, till your jonesin for it. I had a lull in between bands. I wanted to, but couldn't bring myself to pick it up. Till i knew i needed some low end back in my life.

I got lucky with my most recent CL response. Was the most vague posting ive ever read (dont even remember what is was). But 2 1/2 years later still happy i took a chance. Hope you find what your looking for.

Along with the essentials, i always carry a leatheman. And i cant count how many times a extension cord has come in handy.

Its amazing what my wifes picked up over the years about bass/gear. In turn i had to learn to ride, or i'd never see her.

Short answer. No. Unless like earlier reply is to encourage quick setup. But pretty unrealistic.
