Hey, yes i do have a good teacher. He's the principal bassist of the North Carolina Symphony. He's says my technique is good. I have a lesson tomorrow. I will bring it up with him and see what he says. I've been trying to figure it our for years though.
Hi, I've been playing bass for about 4 years, but I think I have a serious technique problem. Whenever I play, my bow hand and the thumb on my left hand start hurting really bad. It's almost enough to make me want to stop playing. Please help me. I really want to fix this.
Wow...I'm honestly not sure. Why would someone do that to a bass...it hurts my heart. haha. I think if you took it to a specialist, they MAY be able to sand the paint off and get down to the rosewood. To tell you the truth though, I'd just go ahead and invest in an ebony fingerboard.
I'd recommend Craiglist if you want <1000. Otherwise, the cheapest one that's still decent would be a Sam Shen SB80. If you wanna look at a picture go to http://bassviolinshop.com/basses.html and go to the very bottom of the page. Very decent price.
Wow, that really sucks. I hope you find it. Thankfully I've never had to go through the horrors of getting my UB stolen. Good luck, and like Eggytoast said, call pawn shops and such and give them the specs, and probably a picture of your bass.
Yeah. If I had 20,000 I wouldn't spend it on that kind of bass, I just thought it was extremely beautiful...if i was rich, i'd buy it for show though. haha
It's an Emanuel Wilfer. I'm not sure of all the details about it, but the bio is "New beautifully carved at C-bout corners on front and back, cut-away fingerboard. Great sounding and great looking bass, with free Bobelock cover. 41-1/2" string length. List price, $27,000."
The list price is...
