    New Ampeg Venture Series

I had a 212AV and now own a vb410. I play early punk music and the honest answer is both are great amps. In my experience of playing live the 212 has more top end and cuts through the mix like a knife, whereas the 410 has more low end thunder and pushes a bit more air. There is also the weight...

    Seller's Remorse - what's your tale?

I've often been on the verge of selling mine. Love the tone at home but never played it with a band after 3 years of owning it, largely due to me playing guitars these last couple of years

    Seller's Remorse - what's your tale?

3 times. 1. A Rickenbacker 3000 that I regretted selling the moment I handed it over to the new owner 2. A 76 Fender Precision 3. The biggest regret - a Westone Thunder Jet that my dad bought me when I was 17 - so many bass lines I created on that! So what I learned: stop chasing rainbows!

    New Ampeg Venture Series

I have the VB410 that replaced my SVT212 and have played it at gigs. To my ear it has a really controlled lows, good mids that punch through the mix. What I have found is that I do crank up the treble a lot more than than the 212 to get a good pick attack. I'm an Ampeg guy after trying so...

Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Seafoam Green

No bass coat and paint comes off if you even look at it in the wrong way :-)

Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Seafoam Green

Sounds every bit as good as it looks. I played mine for the first time at a gig recently and it had all the vintage jazz goodness about it. Being a big Klaus Flouride fan I couldn't resist a 66 JB. But you do have to be wary about some of Fenders QC on the AV2s.

    New Ampeg Venture Series

Each to his or her own. I have the Pro 7 and previously the Pro 3. In my time I have owned the Subway 800 and 800+ and whilst it got close to an Ampeg type sound I never found it got there like my Pros IMO. The Pro 7 sounds great with the right cab match as did the Pro 3. I never has an issue...

    New Ampeg Venture Series

I haven't cranked mine as used at home only, but the 212AV stayed clean at very loud volumes. My ears tell me the 410 is not going to be as loud as I have to turn the VB4 up louder for the 410 than the 212. I suspect it might not achieve same volumes and staying clean. Only my gut feeling though.

    New Ampeg Venture Series

I have the VB410 to match with my V4B/7 Pro which replaces my 212AV. I found the latter a pain to lug around to gigs so at 24lbs lighter it's a winner on that front. So far I have only had a chance to play at home, but early impressions are very good. Build quality is really good, but time...

    Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

I bought one new from around 2 years ago and no issues. The issues seemed to be with the earlier models.

    New Ampeg Venture Series

I've been waiting a long time for a lighter version of Ampeg cabs but was never a fan of the 'polite' and sterile looking PN series. That Sweetwater demo sold it for me...the Ampeg grit is there and they look great. While I love my SVT212 it's a pain to move about, so I'm keen on trying the...

    RIP Andy Rourke

Sad news today as the passing of Andy Rourke is annnounced. Simply the most gifted bass player of my generation. Beautiful bass lines that will stand the test of time. There was no one better than him him at his craft. RIP Andy Rourke

    New Amp Day : V4-B & SVT 212AV

Great pictures there. I have the same set up which after a few years trying different kit I have settled on this. The cab will open up and age like a fine Bordeaux wine. It is one of the best tones I have ever had live. Enjoy!
