SVT 4 PRO -- best reasonably sized cabinet?

I use the Ampeg 410hlf with mine and it works great in live situations. It's a bit heftier than the 410he but can still fit in a car

Is Refinishing A Vintage Bass Blasphemous???

    Just my 2 cents but I hate to see Pre-CBS Fenders get refinished and routed. It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin :hiding:

    Mexican Fender Wood?

I have a MIM Pbass in sunburst from 2002 and it sounds pretty good. I was wondering though if someone could answer my question while we are on the topic of MIM bodies. The top of my bass looks normal, but on the back it has a birds eye figure on it. What kind do you think it is? I'm going to...

    Fender-years to avoid?

I've been lucky enough at my age to have played quite a few 1960-1964 Jazz basses as well as my uncle having a stock 1964 jazz (kind of like WordtoHerb). I've played a good amount of 70's Fender and from what I noticed from '75 and on they felt heavier and didn't play/sound as good. In terms of...

    John Paul Jones signature bass

Not my cup of tea when it comes to the specs and price (preferred the flame maple top version he had). I wish he still played Jazz Basses

Fender J Bass Crafted in Japan 1997

Its an alright price. If it has USA pickups in it then go for it.

What's The Current Fender P/J Model?

the aerodyne basses are alright but my big complaint is they use basswood bodies. Infact, Fender doesn't even list the body wood on their website anymore. The "delux" part about the bass is mostly cosmetics. I thought the P-Bass Lyte's weren't too bad when it comes to a P/J configuration.

    JPJ with a Rickenbacker?

I also wonder if he might have gotten it around the time Zeppelin got their Transonic Amps. Its weird because I've never read anything mentioning John Paul Jones with a Rickenbacker bass. Wish I could ask him the story behind it

    JPJ with a Rickenbacker?

He broke a string and borrowed from it someone for a few songs? I still am a bit puzzled when I see it. Insight anyone?

    JPJ with a Rickenbacker?

Look at the picture in this video and look to the left at John Paul Jones. It looks like he is playing a Rickenbacker 4005. Robert's hand is covering up the headstock but the pickguard/control panel would lead one to believe its a Ric. If it is indeed one, than I wonder what the story behind it...

Why Are Short Scale Basses Looked Down Upon?

I used to hate short scale basses when I first started but as I got better, I learned how brilliant they are for playing. I'm know Mike Watt uses them because of issues with his tendons, ect. I'm sure I'll be no exception in the future.

Hahahaahaaha. I would recommend the Moth Bass

Let's list the lamest "I need to sell my bass" excuse we've read here...

I can agree with that. I don't ever plan to sell the current gear I have but I can understand why some people need to sell. For some people its not as easy for them to say "I got laid off and need to pay rent/bills while looking for a new job" There are different levels of bass players on this...
