    Monitor speakers

Hundreds of choices, but looking for opinions as to what is a decent speaker system for the computer to monitor the output (bass, guitar, keyboards), getting sick of headphones. Nothing extravagant but nothing cheap. Retired guy doing this for my own pleasure. Not even sure if this is the right...

    Female Bassist

By any means am I trying to be sexist here. After a lot of years I just got back into playing and in my time not many females played bass. Now I see it's not predominantly a male instrument(not that it ever was). You can see I'm fumbling over my words because I don't want this to be...

    Gary willis bass

Have owned the GWB35 for some time and have loved it. Taking a look at the new GWB205 and not seeing a awful lot of difference for it almost twice as much. Any thoughts?

Talk me into (or out of) a fretless

You hit the nail right on the head by saying a fretless is much more intimate than a fretted. To me it feels your more a part of the instrument. I've always thought of fretless and fretted as being two different animals. That being said there is definitely a learning curve involved which can be...

When (beginner, intermediate, advanced, ...) can one truly appreciate a high-end bass?

No, I'm coming from a standpoint of someone who wants to seriously wants to learn an instrument. Yeah, if i can afford it, top of the line, for most get something modest to see if it's something you want to pursue. More times than not GAS just gets you something that collects dust.

When (beginner, intermediate, advanced, ...) can one truly appreciate a high-end bass?

Well, again this is just my opinion but, I equate it to a beginner learning scales to saying he wants to learn a Bach cello suite. To me that's just getting ahead of yourself. A beginner might not even know they like the instrument let alone put in the time. But again it's you money to do what...

A beginner with a high end bass? No disrespect, if you have the money, but I see a lot of high end used basses on Guitar Centers site.

New here. Picked up a couple fretless basses to take up from where I left off years ago. But this discussion caught my eye because I also am amateur analog photographer. The same discussion comes up in those forums. Of course you want the best tool to convey your creative work but ultimately its...
