    New Ampeg Venture Series

Hmmm... Is this the first report of a *potential* failure? My V12 has been bulletproof since launch, gigging 4-5 x / week. I do keep / transport it in the V12 carry bag, and it goes on a LOT of flights in my suitcase as checked luggage. I have thought about getting a V3, as a "just in case"...

    New Ampeg Venture Series

I did a tour recently, where there were sometimes backline SVT3-PROs, SVT4-PROs, or SVT-7-PROs. They all have the exact same master volume taper as the Venture series. It would appear this is not a new thing.

To clarify, what I meant by “a distortion” was where it sits in the circuit: the first thing after the input jack, before the input level switch, the compressor, and the gain pot. I was trying to say that it would be the same as having an “SGT pedal” in front of the amp. Some are, some aren’t…...

    New Ampeg Venture Series

The V12 has been my main amp since December 2023 now, and has done probably ~500 gigs. Everything from clubs to arenas to festival stages. Here’s my best practises, after much experimenting: 1. Use a 4 ohm cab, unless you’re in a small club. The difference in openness and dynamic response...

Sorry to hear that! Can you describe what happened leading up to the failure? I think you may have the first reported failure. Hopefully yours is an isolated incident!

No, they were backline. cabs. I've been running it mainly into a single 1x12.

I did a gig recently with a backline SVT 4 Pro. I pulled out my V12 to A/B. The cabs were a SVT410HLF and a SVT115. I disengaged the GEQ on the SVT 4 for a 1-1 comparison. With the SGT disengaged, they sounded pretty much identical at the same settings. I was surprised to find that the V12 had a...

Ha. No offence taken. It just tells where where exactly the pickups are placed. Actually, even if someone has a tape measure and could measure from the 12th fret, that would be really helpful.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread. A small favour from someone who owns any of these basses (JJ, PJ, IV, V). Would you please be able to let us know where the pickups are placed, in relation to the open-string harmonics? As in, when you lightly touch the strings around where and directly...

Which details would you say are ambiguous or missing? There certainly seems to be confusion, as evidenced by this thread.

I didn't read it that way. Unless they've updated their copy since you posted this, it looks like they are saying to add an addition VB-88 AND an additional V12, not hooking up an additional VB-88 to the one V12.

Ok then. Well, does anyone else here have this bass currently?

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread. Was wondering about the pickup placement of this bass. Can you play the harmonics over the pickups, and let me know what notes they are? On a Ric, the pickups sit directly below the 2 octave up and 3 octave up harmonics. Obviously they're not going to...

If running the volume at noon, you’re on about 10% of the available volume. 3 o’clock is the new 50% ;)
