New Ampeg Venture Series

I propose a marketing solution to end the confusion amp and speaker cabinet buyers may have when it comes to combining various pieces that works like the Garanimals children's clothing line.

Here is a description of how Garanimals works from Wikipedia.

The original clothing had small embroidered animals on the breast or bottom of tops, and on the waistband of bottoms (or sometimes on one leg above the hem for shorts.)

The intent was to allow children to pick out their own outfits by matching the same animal to a top and a bottom (the line was coordinated so that matching sets would be complementary but provide a choice of combinations.)

For example, if your amplifier has a bear, a giraffe, and a cat logo on the back, and your speaker has a dog, a zebra, and an elephant logo on it, you can easily tell that you should not use them together. :roflmao:
I just love it.

I just love it.
I know some adults (self included) that could benefit from clothing lines like this.

I need to know what a dude who likes dogs with hats would dress like - but better - because plain black tshirt and jeans gets old after a while.

BUT I have a rule of thumb for mixing amps and cabs together: if the RMS wattage is significantly higher on the cab than the amp, you're probably safe. If it isn't, use your ears and err on the side of caution.

800 watt head and a 112? Probably not a great match for much more than a stage monitor. 800 watt head and an 8*10? Probably safe, but better to have two ;)

"800 watt head" into a 112? Well... if it's a head marketed as 800 watts, which typically is stated at at 4 ohms; into an 8 ohm 112? Like my Mesa Subway 800+ into my Barefaced Super Compact? Then it's 400 watts into a 600 watt cab, and it's awesome. So again the devil's in the details.
Which is why the details, presented as simply and unambiguously as possible is so important.

I thought it was just me, but sounds like you had the same problem. I couldn't get a good sound out of this cab no matter what I tried. The Rocketbass I compared it to sounded way better.

The same experience for me. Can't understand why the sound I get from my Rocketbass 210 is way more pleasing to my ears than the Venture V7 with a VB-212 Cab. Disappointed.

Try the V3 + VB115 yesterday and i love SGT B15 sound in low level grid setting. The SVT sound too busy and rough to my ear, maybe could sound better with 410 or 810 Ampeg cab.
I also side by side compare this Ampeg setup with Fender Rumble 800 combo + SGT Di pedal which has close in price tag.
Seriously, the SGT SVT sound better crunch and massive on Rumble setup........ and way louder !
The B15 on SGT-Di also work well with Rumble Vintage mode, bring the low mid out and tame those brightness.

Take my breath and rethinking which i should go with.....

I've had a V3 for a few weeks and I love it. It sounds great through my Vintage Blue B15 cabs and my Ampeg 410HE. I actually prefer it through my 15" cabs, but the 410HE is not bad by any means.

I'm impressed by the craftsmanship. The switches and knobs are solid and the amp is quiet! No noise whatsoever that I can perceive.

One issue that I found is the speakon jack is upside down, but I use the 1/4 speaker input most of the time.

I am not interested in any of the Venture cabs. They seem to be priced a bit high for me, but both the SGT-DI and the Venture V3 are incredibly nice and has me hoping for this type of quality in a revamped PRO-series.

The reason why is because the Venture and the Rocketbass are different amps. The speakers in the RB210 and VB-212 are different. As are the speaker sizes. It would stand to reason the cab construction is different too. You prefer one over the other. Nothing wrong with that. I love my V12, my RB210, and my Micro VR through a SVT-15E cab. They are all just slightly different variations on the Ampeg theme.

The V7 is now available. Someone buy it and let us know if we should get one :)
I’ve got one sitting in my Sweetwater cart but I’m hesitating on checking out. This weird new feeling of asking myself if it’s a need or a want is foreign to me, and it’s making me think about saving money vs. new music gear. I find I’m wanting to retire. But if I do it, I’ll let you know how I like it.
