New Ampeg Venture Series

I'm trying to be heard roaring ;)

Wouldn't both amps have a safe wattage for the cabs? I mean, a 50 or 100 watt head for a cab designed for 300 watts @ 8 ohm (VB-210) or a pair of those at 4 Ohms should be safe, right? Or am I missing something?

Better connection? You must have been talking to a sales guy. The internal contacts are exactly the same and they share the same UL/IEC recognition listing.

I just received a V7 today and it died without 30minutes of use at a gig. It was pretty damn hot to the touch and was indoors. I'm cautiously optimistic I got a dud, I love Ampeg! So Ill see what the replacement behaves like.

Sorry to hear that! Can you describe what happened leading up to the failure?

I think you may have the first reported failure. Hopefully yours is an isolated incident!

Yes, I did some comparisons between the V12 and my 7Pro early on in this thread. After a good bit of tweaking, I found that they actually favor fairly similar tone control settings and the V12 and 7Pro sound far more similar than different.

My VB-210 is in! It looks solid and is easy to move around with the integrated sidebars, which was the main objective of this purchase. It pushes a lot more volume when I add it to my BA210 (which will go from 283 to 450 Watts when paired with another cabinet). Heaps of depth and a lovely tone.

I wasn't able to really testdrive it because I like my neighbours, but I have a gig coming up next week when I can go full throttle so I will let you know how it held up. :)

I used the V-12/VB-112/VB-115 rig this past weekend, with great results. One of my long-time best friends and a bandmate of 25+ years - who is also a great sound tech - really loved the rig. He said it absolutely sounded like an "Ampeg rig," but noted that it had just a bit more cut and clarity. I'd say that sounds about right.

The Venture gear has continued to impress me, and I find myself liking it even more as I get the gear out on more gigs. :thumbsup:

Some of you may know that this is not my usual ride (Hyundai Veloster Turbo, but it would fit in there easily, as well - I can put a full 8x10 in the VT). The VT is getting a new turbo and some other upgrades, so I'm using my daughter's Forester.

First off, this thing is dang sexy! It really looks great in person, and the dimensions are quite nice. Much easier to navigate/schlep than a full 810. You can see my Heritage SVT/810 in the background.

Tone-wise, it really impressed me right out of the gate. I had previously mentioned that the VB-112/115 remind me a bit of the 212AV and 410HE, in terms of the clarity and tightness (though the Venture cabs seem to go deeper). Well, the VB-88 most definitely evokes the full 810 "fridge" tone, but it does have its own character. I have not directly A/B'd the VB-88 to an SVT-810 yet, but I most definitely will.

Compared to the VB-112/115 stack, the VB-88 is immediately more full, more present in the upper lows to low mids, and "bigger" sounding. The character is very different from the 112/115, and I think that is kind of the point. My first impression is that its somewhat between the tone of an SVT-810 and a 410HLF. I really like both the VB-112/115 stack and the VB-88, and they are just different flavors of Ampeg. :bassist::bassist::bassist::thumbsup:

Hi there, does the Vb115 have the tightness of the 212av? I’m very familiar with the 212av cabinet but I don’t love how heavy it is. I would love to get something that sounds like the 212av but weighs 40lbs or less. I would appreciate your input since you seem to have some great experience with Ampeg cabinets. Thank you!

The VB-115 is closer to the 212AV than it is to, say, the 410HLF, for sure. The 212AV is one of my favorite Ampeg cabs, for sure. I did some comparisons with the VB-112 and VB-115 with the 212AV and some other cabs a bit ago. The VB-112/115 both seem to go slightly deeper than the 212AV, but share much of that nice, tight feel and articulation.
