I've used KZ and Shure in ears among others. The Shure win hands down as live IEM against the KZ. I found the KZ too bassy and lacking mids. The Shure are also better at isolation too. This doesn't work at all anymore with current production tubes. I've tried pretty much all of them. Closest you can get these days is with a pro tools plugin called "kinky twister". Make sure to get the official version from Western Electrics site.

The differences in PA cabs sounds is not wood vs plastic. The differences are vast though, and as mentioned by others, the higher models (in some brands) are plywood vs their lower models (cheaper drivers etc) in plastic.

If all parts of your signal chain are designed well, you can still get significant variations in tonality. Strings, pickups, preamp, and especially the speakers are all designed with some tone goal. Much less so with power amps, and the designers do not pick an output class based on tonal...

Is the Sire p7 an active? If it's active then the cap may be on a circuit board. If that is the case, then just tell the tech that you want more tone cut available.
