    Loudness issue

Lol yes. We need to use ears to gradually increase each amps/cabs volume level to its limits. It's difficult in text to make suggestions and cover all caveats.

    Loudness issue

Hi op. Do you have any other amps or cabs? If yes, then do some experiments. Otherwise do a comparison of front end input vs fx return input with the HB. Do either of these inputs cause the speaker to struggle or at least move quite a bit? 4 or 500 watts (amp near clipping) to an efficient 12"...

What do you do when the recording engineer doesn't want to use your "sound"?

I let my "trusted" engineer do what's needed. However, our brother OP is in a synth sound band. If he had known going in that the dry signal is the only track to be used in the mix, they may have played more productive/different bass line. If I played an open B ringing out for every 15 seconds...

    IEM issues, Can't hear myself

I've used KZ and Shure in ears among others. The Shure win hands down as live IEM against the KZ. I found the KZ too bassy and lacking mids. The Shure are also better at isolation too. My mix had vocals, horns at 5-10% of bass volume. Keys, guitar at 10-20% and percussion was muted as I can hear...

Why Vacuum Tube Amps Are Louder: The truth of Natural Even Harmonic Phase Rotation

This doesn't work at all anymore with current production tubes. I've tried pretty much all of them. Closest you can get these days is with a pro tools plugin called "kinky twister". Make sure to get the official version from Western Electrics site.

    Plastic Vs Wood P.A. speakers

The differences in PA cabs sounds is not wood vs plastic. The differences are vast though, and as mentioned by others, the higher models (in some brands) are plywood vs their lower models (cheaper drivers etc) in plastic.

    Best Value Amps and Cabs

For some, watts/$ is the bang for buck. Could also be features/$ or desirability/$ or tone/$. For those who want warranty and peace of mind, only new gear from reputable companies will suit. We need to meet our minimum requirements for whatever our purposes, then compare the bucks. I can...

Is it just me or are newer lighter rigs just lacking 'balls'?

If all parts of your signal chain are designed well, you can still get significant variations in tonality. Strings, pickups, preamp, and especially the speakers are all designed with some tone goal. Much less so with power amps, and the designers do not pick an output class based on tonal...

Help with new tone cap for Sire p7

Is the Sire p7 an active? If it's active then the cap may be on a circuit board. If that is the case, then just tell the tech that you want more tone cut available.

Now take the battery out and use a white marker in the battery box noting + and - for next time too.

Ibanez Ergonomic Headless Bass (EHB) club

I went with the 4mm stickers that someone mentioned somewhere early in this thread. Fantastic simple result.

NBD Fender 2011 American Special Precision

Nice bass. I have a 2011 as well. I much prefer the neck on these than the standard P. I had thought about mods but left everything standard. The stock pickup is nice. The only change I might have made was to put ultralight tuners for better balance. It's my number 2 bass now so I'll leave it as...

Do Imports Devalue The Domestic Model Basses?

Had almost the same customer as you. They didn't want a discount though, they just wanted an unopened box. I explained that it was unopened until their demand to see it. No, they just wanted an unopened box. Sigh.

Is it the end of Amps and cabs? In Ears required for gigs now.....

I'll add my vote for an IEM future. Was definitely sceptical about it at first, but was sold after the first gig a few years ago. We were a loud salsa band, about 10 of us on stage. Since my IEMs blocked out all the noise (lots of percussion), I could keep the volume low and heard everything...
