    String through body

Sustain is why I do it. By the way Asatman... that white bass is to die for, straight up gorgeous. If you ever sell it, just ping me!

What was your first amp (old guys only) Pt 2

My first, circa 1973-ish was a Casino Lounge. Made by Kustom (their lower end stuff) with a 15" and maybe 50 watts, maybe not! And I still have it for practice!

Gallien Kreuger Official Club Pt. 11

    +1. IMHO.

    Gallien-Krueger 212 MBE-II 2x12 Bass Speaker

Oh, and yes the MBE 210 is a ported cab. At least mine is (previous version with silver grill). I would assume the II version is as well.

    Gallien-Krueger 212 MBE-II 2x12 Bass Speaker

The cabs sound great. I've never had one of the biamp cabs so I can't compare, but the cabs do a great job. They are driven by a GK 700RB-II. I also have an MB210 combo. Same deal, sounds great, but a bit different from the 700RB. Let us know what you work out!

Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I'm 52. What's it to you?! Now 'crank' me out a number!

    Gallien-Krueger 212 MBE-II 2x12 Bass Speaker

I can't speak to the 2x12, but the 2x10 (same tweeter config) is pretty hissy and tinny. I have no use for it and just leave it off. I am running two cabs with a 700rb.

Why is GK so popular for R&B and Hip Hop?

+1 on knob twisting. Fantastic tone and it was easy for me to find on my 700rb, but others have had to experiment a good bit. Worth the effort IMHO.

What Amp Combo do you own?

A GK MB210 now. Does a very nice job. And... would you believe... I still have my first combo amp (well, amp of any kind, really)... a Kasino Lounge! A bad 15" speaker and about a 40w amp. Weighs like 80lbs! Strictly for practice, of course.

    Gallien Krueger is Awesome

GK provides tools. For any situation. So... I am getting just old enough that I like lite. So my GK possibilities are: Small room: MB210 combo. Medium room: MB210 combo with MBE210 extension. Larger room, outside, or just 'because': Could still go MB210 combo with either MBE210 or MBE115...

GK dudes help! back for more advice

I have had a few of these. If you can find a used MB210, give it some thought. It is the only MB combo that will allow you to hook up an external cab, thus giving you some flexibility in the future. With the external cab it has 500W, more than enough to handle the load. Just sayin... I...

Why Do I Love GHS Bass Boomers???

I have been using them on my Fenders forever. Love them. They don't break for me... but I don't play that hard on them either (classic rock, no slap and pull to speak of). Not as bright as some, ture, but that is what EQ is for!

Sticky Gummy Finish on UNPLAYED 1999 Rick 4003 Curly Maple Fireglo :(

The same thing happened to me with my 1979 Fender P-bass. Unlike you, I used it for years on the road. When I stopped touring, it went in to 'seldom used' status. Never put up for more than a few months at a time. One day in 1993 I went to play it and it was literally stuck to the case...
