What was your first bass guitar?

1977 Ibanez Black Eagle. Still have it, but the pickguard was missing when I got it. I wish I could find one.

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on

In regards to above problem, it is definitely the old Fender cab, i tried all different cables, and I can only reproduce the problem with the Fender no matter what configuration. I am gonna get another Avatar, either another 1x12 or a 2x10 (neo's). Am I right in thinking that either of those...

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on

Actually the smaller cab had the higher measured resistance (7.9 vs 6.7 for the Avatar). I usually play with both the gain and the master around 12:00. However, last night at practice I played through the Fender cab only (the 2x10 150w cab) and I was able to recreate the problem by popping the...

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on

Thanks, all. I will try different cables, and I can also look at the connections in the cabs and look for anything obvious...what's odd to me is it always happens an hour or so into the set, during which I rarely tweak volume, or anything else. I pretty much set and forget. This is why I...

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on

Markbass people- this is a question about a technical problem. If this is not the place for this and I need to make a new thread let me know. Anyway, I am running a LMIII into an Avatar 1x12 (500W) and Fender 2x10 (150W); both cabs are 8 ohms. Several times, during gigs, the amp has crapped out...

So I just saw Vic Wooten and Stanley Clarke..

I recorded Stanley's entire unaccompanied upright solo with my phone. I was not very close but the audio is actually pretty good. I gotta figure out how to post it.

So I just saw Vic Wooten and Stanley Clarke..

I was at this show as well. Holy crap. Blew my freakin mind, man! Plus it was awesome to see 3 Wooten brothers playing together! (Reggie on guitar and Joseph on keys.)

Official Markbass club - it just keeps on going!

I recently bought a LMIII from TB'er peterwsmith. I love it and it is a huge improvement over my former amp (1980's Fender BXR 200). But after about the 4th show I played with it I knew it was the real deal. I have no case for it so I was carrying it in a little padded bag I had laying around...

    Instrument cable repair question

Oh cool, I knew they had a warranty, but I figured it only covered defects, not damage from abuse by ignoramus bass players. Thanks y'all!

    Instrument cable repair question

OK, so I ran over my monster instrument cable in a gravel parking lot. It seemed fine and I used it for 2 shows before I noticed that the rubber was torn in one spot, and I could see the copper wire underneath it. All the insulation is still there, it's just torn, like a flap. Do you all think...

    Double Bass music (band) recommendations

Hot Rize - the self titled album is my favorite bluegrass record, every song is great. Also any Doc Watson, although besides pure bluegrass, some of his stuff is more folk, such as cowboy songs and ballads, etc. Awesome multi-instrumentalist.

What flatwounds would work best on a Stingray?

Not a Stingray, but I put Chromes on my fretless MM SUB and I quite like them.

What Music Man bass would make the best fretless?

I have a fretless SUB that I got off ebay, it's very nice for the money.
