    I Don't Get Bass Distortion/OD

I learned a lot in this thread. I own a dark glass vintage deluxe that I probably have no business with... but you'all are giving keen insight as how to work it in tastefully.

    NBD-G&L Goodness

For what it's worth, the finish on my G&L maple fretboard is super thin/light. Very different than my Fender or Sire. No idea if they are all like that. But you already know what you like and it looks great to boot.

    NBD-G&L Goodness

Nice bass. I really like my Kiloton so hoping you enjoy yours. Great color scheme through out your quiver.

How bad (or good) was your first bass?

I present my starter as a cautionary tale. Before I knew I was really into it, I decided to online myself a Squire Jazz starter kit - 15W + Bass. Arrived with a broken tuner peg and, unknown to me, a broken truss rod. The strings were unbelievably hard to press down but I didn't know better...

Why I lost a bit of respect for Sting (Rick Beato Interview)

Opinions on the person aside, I think when an accomplished song writer/musician talks about their process - you listen. I learn so much from this candor; sometimes I have an artist's simple, self-describing words about their aesthetic or whatnot running through my head for months. Just...

Should I send it back? Opinions, please!

Even with your hand forced, I'm sort of glad you're keeping it. I know I'd call it my 'worm bass' from now til eternity. Hopefully you like it enough that you can have a fun story to tell years from now where a hundred strangers chimed in on ol' wormy.

New USA Kiloton en route (check out this finish and options)!

Just here for the Kiloton love. Here's my maple/ash USA.

    Jazz bass tone

I'm not expert on anything so I try to keep it simple. What I hear is: Jazz - focused tone, punchy, sings Precision - thump, round, thick Stringray/MFD - growl, modern Plenty of cross over tones between instruments if you want... but if you don't like swimming upstream, you can emphasize the...

    Pressurewounds, Pressurewounds...

Holla. My pressure wounds arrived today. I want to like them & give them a fair shake - what do you think is the best bass for a try out? PJ (currently labella flats), Jazz (lo-riders), Kiloton (boomers). I'm leaning to the Kiloton which is sort of string ray like.

I Want to Love Sire Basses But....

Dunno. I just spent the last ten minutes looking at my 3 basses: Fender, G&L, Sire. So accustomed to them nothing stands out anymore, though I think G&L was a bit 'different' to my eyes when I got it. In the rare case I'd take notice, maybe the Fender looks a bit extra-material-ish in...

Roland CUBE-120XL: good practice amp ?

so just a few hours into my 120XL ownership and I'm quite pleased with it. Nice construction, good tone. Even in the unmolested tone settings - it's different than the Fender 100 which I think is closer to an actual & clean signal to output - but I very much like what the Roland delivers...

Roland CUBE-120XL: good practice amp ?

Thanks everyone. Sounds at least worth checking out for sure; mostly wanted to hear if it had some fatal flaw that would make it hard pass. Hopefully it'll have a 'full sound' tone-wise which is most important to me. Strangely, while usually all the gizmos would be a meh thing, I actually...

Roland CUBE-120XL: good practice amp ?

Looking for a sanity check. I can get a pristine 120XL for a good price here locally. I have a Fender Rumble 100 which works well but my upstairs practice amp is a Rumble 40 and it's a bit anemic; so looking to replace the 40. I was considering getting a GK MB115 II (200watt) but that's going...

Do you enjoy practicing/playing by yourself?

That's where I am too. Honestly, when I read a thread like this questioning that - it makes me feel like I'm missing something; which wouldn't be a shocker. I think my world-view comes from a life in athletics. The expectation is that you train, drill and drill again. As they say, amateurs...
