Are you sure the speaker is blown? When one speaker becomes disconnected, the impedance (Ohms) increases, which lowers the output of the amp. So don't assume it took all of your amps wattage :)

I like the bassman a lot. It's a 100, 15" speaker and 60W Amp. Kind of an awkward middle between practice Amp and gig-worthy rig but it sounds great. I like it much better than the rumbles I have played and can dial in a lot of different sounds with it.

I have a 16 ohm 2x10. Actually it's a 4 ohm cab that I rewired to sit atop a 4x10 :)

What's the ratio of bass:paycheck? If low enough, go for it. Another consideration: can you sell it for more than you are paying for it (net of selling fees) ? Or can/would you offload some of your current things to pay for it?

Ahh, that explains the wonky shape, it's so the player can use a bow. Pretty neat!
