Just curious, has anyone ever used this ZAR product - I picked it up at the local hardware store (they didn't have any VU, and I didn't want to have to wait for shipping from somewhere)? If so, what kind of performance can I expect as compared to VU?

Good point, I hadn't thought about that one yet. I suppose it might be possible to just carefully break the seal of the tape around the edges of the neck pocket, and leave removing the tape completely for later.

It happened to me BIG TIME on my current build :( The pickguard should cover it, but I need to put more color on anyway, so this time around I'm not going to cover the cavities (only the neck pocket perhaps)

I just learned the hard way that it might be better not to tape off the other cavities at all, or if you do, at least to remove the tape when the finish is still tacky, but in any case not to wait until it's cured. If you wait, then the tape is hard to remove without causing any chipping, and...

I've never seen that one in the stores here, but what we do get is this one, and my experience is similar to yours, I get great results with it, and consistently. If only the 2x colors/clear were as easy and consistent!

It seems that Amazon isn't shipping the gloss version of the Minwax water based poly internationally any longer, but I found an eBay seller who ships the Varathane Ultimate gloss internationally, and just put in an order! Any tips on using it as a wipe on finish? And, if anyone has experience...

I also wonder what people's experiences are on that with some of these products. I'll add my own, based on using Rust-Oleum 2X though: It hardens up over the course of one year to something that is not quite as durable as a factory finish but still provides adequate protection (in my opinion)...
