I usually like to pop in at guitar stores and test equipment either with songs I'm actually playing, a solo I'm working on, or just anything that covers the full range of the instrument. Then I scoop out the mids and do the same thing with my thumb!
My gear is so big, it's unecessary. It's up on CL right now so I can sell it to downsize to a more practical set up for my needs.

You are correct! They only weigh the Private reserve guitars. As for the line production stuff, that is shipped to them with all of the dimensions coming straight from the manufacturer. Most of the time you can even get volume!
