On all my basses I've used sewing thread, fishing line, or a leather shoelace to tighten the button holes on my straps. Just thought I would share as years ago I tried the metal kind and mever liked them; they rattle and you have to take off the original strap buttons. I'll post a pic of my...
the TI jazz flats were on my P-bass first. i put those on the eko "medium scale" violin bass. medium scale because of the tailpiece (like a hofner or hagstrom). usually you're not supposed to do that but it worked in this case, maybe because the ti-jf are floppy not too stiff. can't really speak...
i have a set of pyramid gold flats on my precision bass: 45-65-85-105 and after playing on them awhile think they sound good with tension/volume/etc. i had a low output violin bass (eko, quieter pickups for whatever reason) and opted for ti flats on that bass because they were zingier and...
ive got the short-Chromes on a hagstrom concord bass, but the strings are held a few inches behind the bridge, so the tension is probably higher than the bass you're playing, if your short scale is more like a fender mustang bass style bridge. i like the tension and sound for Chromes on that...
i have no experience with tapewounds, but as i've heard the tape causes the strings to be much thicker than non-tape-wound strings, i would check to see if the strings are fitting properly in the nut, and also restrings the strings making sure they are not twisted at all, before tuning them up.
so looking at some info now, seems like the number on the neck is more likely this: 0103 x 0564, translating to 01=precision, 03=maple neck, x, 05=week, 6='76, and 4=thursday.
still curious on the other stamp...
Hi all, there may be some info out there I haven't stumbled upon, but thought I would upload some pictures to see if anybody had any insight as to what the stamps on the neck of the guitar mean. I'm curious on the production year, or anything else that could be gathered. It's a Fender Precision...
I can only really add to the conversation that I've had a pair of regular/light gauge Chromes on my fender P-bass for 3 years now and think they sound great. I've very briefly tried LaBellas but didn't have the patience to break them in I guess. And I briefly tried some GHS boomer roundwounds...
that store had a couple guild starfires (Jack Casady enough said), but were way out of my price range. cool to know they had the same pickups though, this bass has a certain punchy sound but being a hollow body it's not the same "punchy" as a Rickenbacker. it weighs nothing, and the weight...
Been playing a Fender Precision for a few years and love it, but was interested in getting a hollow body guitar. After a couple of not-great online purchases and interactions I decided I'll only ever buy a guitar in person again.
I saw a store that had a Framus star bass (everybody knows Bill...
pluck the strings either over the pickups or closer to the neck. and if you have to play further back towards the bridge for some reason, then play lighter. Geezer Butler digs into his bass, but you can see and hear he's hitting the strings closer to the neck. he may also play heavier gauge...
little late to this thread, but recently got a hagstrom concord bass. i was able to buy a Washburn case, brown fake alligator texture, fuzzy pink on inside. not sure what it’s built for but the hagstrom fits well in this case.
