    SG & EB Bass Club

Mostly the horrendous neck dive. The previous owner put the front strap button on the neck behind the 15th fret, and moved the other a few inches up the edge. This makes it balance better, but if I sit down to play it without a strap, it's terrible. I have a real 1962 Gibson Les Paul/SG, which...

Its not silk, but the base of the string where the winding is thicker near the ball end.

    SG & EB Bass Club

The bass is an Epiphone. I’m a big SIT fan, maybe I’ll grab a set of Foundations for it. I should clarify, Boomers have been my latest go-to on my other basses. Haven’t tried anything aside from the Slinkys on this one. Definitely sing not zing. Part of the issue with the A string’s height is...

    SG & EB Bass Club

New EB-3 owner. I’ve always played Jazz or MM style basses, so this is a bit of a departure. Ergonomically, pretty horrendous. Tonally, this is gonna get a lot of play time. I’m still trying to get it setup well for me. Previous owner used pretty heavy EB Slinkys, whichever set has a .055” G...

    NBD: Epiphone EB-3

Apologies, as pics are forthcoming. Pretend there’s a bunch of shots of a black EB-3. I’ve had it for a few weeks, but got it in a trade that also included a parts Jazz, and it sat in the case until the last few days. First off, what an ergonomic nightmare. Second, what an amazing sound...

Suggest a song for the person above to learn!

Not hard to play, but pretty difficult to play well.

Well, maybe because new music suxx

I'm 42, have an iPhone and a fast internet connection. There is zero excuse for me (or anyone finding themself similarly outfitted) to gripe about new music sucking.

Explanation of mwah for the fretless uninitiated

My first "real" bass was my fretless Warwick. I chose that because I wanted to stop playing bass like a guitarist. Also, I was offering up a guitar in trade, wanted a Warwick, and the interested party happened to have a fretless one.

    I want your string business!!

Just bookmarked your store for the next string re-stocking. Your prices look great, and they're consistent, unlike Amazon.

Former diehard flat fans, what made you change?

I've never understood the people who take the time to post their irritation with a certain thread rather than just ignoring it.

About that “audience doesn’t care which bass” bit….

Funny, I just started this same thread on another forum. There's always that person who pops up with the "nobody in the audience will notice" comment when discussing whatever gear stuff. However, that guy seems curiously quiet in this thread and the other one I mentioned. Just as bad as...

    Awkward music-related experience at Starbucks

Be nice to people in the service industry. If something you say doesn’t get the reaction you’re expecting, assume they’re stressed out and have to listen to people say stupid crap all day. Yes, we’re paid to be friendly and helpful. We’re not paid to be yelled at and blamed for all the world’s...

    OK, so Strange/Stupid pick question?...

Look at the edge of your Primetone pick and compare to a regular Ultex. Primetones have a bevel that mimics pick wear from use, so they feel broken in when new. They’re also polished.

New bass or New neck- what would you do?

I don't doubt it. I've had several good Squier guitars and a really sweet Jazz bass. Disagreeing that a Squier is an upgrade from a MIJ ESP isn't a slam on them.

PSA: Strings on Amazon with “damaged packaging”

I suppose I'll count myself lucky. I've grabbed a handful of bass sets, two 8 string guitar sets, and at least three 3 packs of regular guitar strings severely discounted before this nonsense.
