Is your most expensive bass your best 'player'?

I really enjoy my MIM 2010 Fender Jazz Deluxe much more than my Charvel Surfcaster or 1972 4001 Rick. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

    MIM Fender basses

I have 3 four-string basses: a 1972 Rick 4001, a circa 1992 Charvel Surfcaster, and a 2010 MIM Fender Jazz Deluxe. I almost always play the jazz. I tested out several MIA Jazz basses but liked the used MIM better.

Any Reason NOT to buy a 5 stringer?

To play devil's advocate, why stop with a 5-string? Just go buy the 6-string. That's my thinking anyway.

Where do we bassists work? v2.0

I've really enjoyed reading these! I'm a gov't research geologist and I teach graduate level geology courses for fun.

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Five!!!

Thanks. The Jazz I bought used with the BA bridge. It has great sustain, so maybe the bridge helps. To be honest I'm the original owner of the Charvel but am thinking about selling it.

New Hadean EB-9705 from Rondo! Wow..

Great pics! How is the string spacing? I prefer something like a Jazz bass, i.e. wide spacing at the bridge but narrow spacing towards the nut.

The CARVIN MB (MICRO BASS) Combo Club!

On second thought, instead of putting it on a stand, I'm thinking about getting the 210MBE and running it vertically. Has anyone tried out the 210 extension cab with the MB210? I can't find a review/discussion of it on-line.

New Carvin Micro bass combo amps!

Thanks for sharing. I used this as a starting place on my new MB210, tweaked the bass back a bit, and turned it to active. Sounds great on my jazz bass.

The CARVIN MB (MICRO BASS) Combo Club!

That reminds me..does anyone put their MB210 up on a stand? How does/did that work out?

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Seven

I went and looked closely and they are definitely not original. There are no brand or model numbers on them but they look almost exactly like this, exact all chrome: These are Schallers. Anyway, it's great to learn more about this bass, after so many years.

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Seven

Thank you! When I got the bass one of the original pickups had been replaced by something else, so I had both pickups replaced. As this was done >15 years ago, and it's the only Ric I've ever played, I don't really have much to compare it to. Sorry I can't be of more help. I've always assumed...
