    Stickers?

Awesome! You saved me from having to post pix of mine! This is exactly how my poor, beat-up Squier looks, y'all! And I like it...although, as I said, I really didn't have a better option!:)

    Stickers?

My beat-to-heck Squier P-bass HAD to have stickers on it. The body was broken in half when I got it, and I just couldn't repair it well enough myself to make a nice paint or stain job worth while; the repair would clearly show through. So I bought about 75 "Wacky-Pak" stickers (you...

Differences in all the Fender Precisions

I'll go so far as to step up to the plate with an Affinity. My most beloved bass is my saved-from-the-dross pile Affinity P-bass. I got it with a body cracked through from the neck pocket to the pick-up cavity. The neck was bowed, the truss rod over-cranked and stripped and there was a...

The official "four strings is enough for me" club.

Four is all I'll ever need. After a lifetime of playing the guitar, I find four liberating, oddly enough.:bassist:

We all play bass. That's obvious. But why are we so atteacted to it?

I also play the bagpipes. Maybe the fact that I also love playing the bass just says something about my apparent need to be noticed...:eyebrow:.

    P-Bass VS Jazz Bass

OK---I refuse to cooperate with the authorities here! I love both the J and P sounds, depending on what my mood is and depending upon what type of music I'm playing. I am completely unable to make a "best choice" in that I love both equally, yet for different reasons. So there!...:D

    Keep a Cheapie?

Love my cheapies! I have two G.B. Samicks (P and a J) and an Afiniity (P). I've experimented with electronics, fretless conversions and just about anything else I can think of. The result is good sounding, playable, work-horse basses that I can replace anytime one gets smashed.

You have approx. $1000 to spend on a NEW bass.

YEEESSSSS!!!!!!!:hyper: Oh, wait...I'm not the one getting the thousand, am I?:rollno: I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but as a builder of Franken-basses, I'd go with buying high-end parts of my choice and assembling something custom. You could get a wonderful Warmouth...

Paul Gray form Slipknot found dead

Whatever happened, a fellow bassist died. It's a loss to our community whether the player involved was a pro making national news or a closet rocker who ended up in an obit in some unknown small town. A bit of musical creativity that was unique is gone from this existance, and we will never...

The World's Most Beautiful Fretless Basses ...

Two answers that generally describe the same thing. However, you have to start somewhere, so to a certain extent, I believe you "run whatcha brung" when you start out. Then, as time and money permit, you upgrade, expecially if you're fortunate enough to be able to make a living out of playing...

    Only a P-bass?

I admit it...this is ME!;) I love the simplicity and sound of P-basses (I have two--an Affinity I pulled the frets out of and a Greg Bennett), but the J-bass is a blast as well (Gregg Bennett). Because I bought inexpensively, I'm able to enjoy the sonic possibilities of both!:hyper:

What did you play back when... Nostalgia

Now THATS a cool first bass!:D

Don't knock cheap basses until you try them.

RIGHT-BLOODY-ON!! (I'm somewhere around cyclist "C"....in bikes and basses!) I play a Gregg Bennett (Samick) Corsair--it's a P-Bass style (hence my tag name). Bought it for $150 even. Loved it so much that I bought a used Gregg Bennett Fairlane, which is their J-Bass style--$100. Loved...
