    I built a bass wall.

I have thought about covering it up, but that's a return vent. So while there is 'some' airflow over the headstock, it's ambient room air as opposed to heated (or cooled) air. I also plan to leave that space empty most of the time, I just staged everything for the photo op.

    I built a bass wall.

So I finally got mine done and full, although one or two of them look a little funny... One more coming in the next few months, then I move on to collecting amps... I pretty much copied the OP, although I made the block bigger and used 4 screws each.

I am the A-hole, but how bad?

Wow, did this blow up! I had to step away from the thread for a while, since I was starting to really hammer myself hard over it (again). I promise to read all the responses, but that's gonna take me some time now. And I thank you all for taking the time to post, no matter where you stood on...

I am the A-hole, but how bad?

Thank you all. Lots of great (and opposing) points here. I appreciate all of them. Yes, I have (non music) things that I need to work on: asserting myself without being a jerk is a crucial social skill that I am bad at. For me the crux of it was his use of the word 'let'. That was made it a...

I am the A-hole, but how bad?

Thank you guys so very much. As I said, I'm not good at standing up for myself, so this has been very helpful (to put it mildly)

I am the A-hole, but how bad?

Good points, all of it. This guy is bad, makes my inexperienced ass look like the second coming of Jaco, so I was ready to let it go... until his comment about presumed permission. E: I'm thinking that I am in the wrong band, but in BFE Missouri, there aren't many options. But you are certainly...

I am the A-hole, but how bad?

This is one of those instances where the drummer has shepherded a noob bassist and done a very good job of it. He has taught me a tremendous amount about rhythm, and has tried to teach me even more that I am just not yet able to grasp

I am the A-hole, but how bad?

So, we're at a gig (private bbq party), we're on break, I'm off to the side chatting with Mrs. Iggy and I look over to see our lead singer hanging out by my bass. Uh oh, oh no, please don't... Yep, he did it, sets his plate of BBQ on my amp, picks up my bass and started trying to figure out...

    Gibson... again...

I think that this could have been a great PR move: "Gibson excises the demon of bad design decisions with a backhoe". But they just forgot to be the ones to release the video... oops

operator's manual - do you read it?

Good Grief! I've been looking for recommendations for an electric razor... I didn't expect to get them here, but I followed this thread to that thread and now I know what I'm going to get. Unexpected TB bonus feature!

Does seeing/hearing great bass players make you wanna "quit"?

Nope. I see at as inspiration, although I'm old enough to have to 'triage' my inspiration - my list of things to improve is already pretty long :laugh:

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Thanks for the ideas, I'm soaking them all up (and loving this place for it's helpfulness). I'll have to look into those sets, since both D'Addario and GHS flats have produced sound that I really like, and I'd been told before that the ability to 'dial up' with rounds, whether for a solo or...

My worst soundguy experience (by now)

    A) I have nothing useful to say about your issue, so I should shut up... but... B) I'm watching all your videos and enjoying them all a lot, so I thought I should post to say so! So.. thanks to that sound guy for creating problems so that I get to learn about you and enjoy your music that I...

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Thank you, I really like the color also! I'm rather new an inexperienced, so this may sound dumb, but here goes: I'm playing in a Country band, 60's-70's era, so I am trying for that older style, 'thumpy' sound that I think is the same as that 'P tone' you're asking about. I just got the bb435...
