2x12 vs 4x10+2x10 cab with 300w tube head

Thanks everybody for the advice. I didn't know these problems could arise when mixing 4x10 and 2x10 cabs. All I was thinking was how big would sound a 6x10 stack... I'm warned now! Our easier/cheaper solution seems using the 2x12 cab, we just have to replace a damaged woofer. Thanks again

Replacement speakers for an existing 2 x12?

The port of the Nemesis cab is 12,6 cm in diameter and the bafle and cab sides are 16 mm thick plywood. I'll make a search on cab modeling

Replacement speakers for an existing 2 x12?

Thanks for the explanation but I don't mean to kidnap the thread! I don't have access to the cab now but dimensions are 24-3/4"W x 24-3/4"H x 16-1/4"D, the port is tubular, I guess about 4-5", and the board is plywood about 1/2 inch. I will confirm this when I can. ANyway I'll look into modeling...

Replacement speakers for an existing 2 x12?

No, I haven't modeled the driver in my cab (Eden Nemesis 212), i feel that's beyond my capabilities! I just see it has good power handling (350w), great Xmax, good sensibility... I would like to use a driver that won't get cooked as the original did

2x12 vs 4x10+2x10 cab with 300w tube head

Thanks, but that's not a solution for us. We can't carry around one 2x12 plus one 4x10, and we own no 2x10 (he would have to buy one) We're looking for portability and best/fuller sound within these options: 2x12 versus 4x10+2x10

Replacement speakers for an existing 2 x12?

What about Beyma speakers? It seems they have a good reputation. I actually "need" to replace a damaged speakwr in a 2x12, when you tap the cone there's like a vibration coming from the voice coil, and playing you can hear it rattle all over :(... I'm considering the Beyma sm212, it's not...

    Is a 300W 4ohm tube head paired with a 400W 8ohm 2x12 cab bad?

A friend has actually been having problems using a SVT with an 8 ohms cab, playing LOUD. His problem was that from time to time the volume dropped suddenly, and sometimes the amp would not turn on. He sent it for servicing a few times but the problem kept coming back... until he started using a...

2x12 vs 4x10+2x10 cab with 300w tube head

Hello, maybe someone can share thoughts on this. A friend has one 8 ohms 4x10 cab and his amp (300w Ampeg tube head) only has 2 and 4 ohm outputs, so he either gets another 8 ohm cab (needs to be smaller) or uses a 4 ohms 2x12 cab he can borrow. What would you do with this kind of amp? Use a...

    Fender Supertwin suitable for bass?

I was wondering why'd you direct me to a Christmas thread ;) But still I don't understand! I'm actually not sure whether to build a cab and use these speakers or get me a bass cab (with its own speakers). Just wanted to make the most of what I have and save some money...

    Fender Supertwin suitable for bass?

Hi, yes I know it's a 4 yr old thread! I thought it's better to resurrect it rather than starting a new one... having said that, I believe the OP question was about using the Twin "in it's open back combo configuration" for bass. Now my question is: Could the stock Super Twin speakers be...

    Tube watts

I didn't know my question was going to produce this debate! I'm not for a confrontation between tube and SS users,,, we're fortunate enough we can use both or whatever we prefer... I know what you mean, I have 'slight' notions about dbs and about speaker surface area... more speakers more...

    Tube watts

Wow, I just got back home and found this is 4 pages long, haven't had time to read the whole thread! They were combos, 100w SS through 1x12 vs 45w tubes and 4x10, of course more air moving with the latter!

    Tube watts

Hi! You know what they say about tube watts being twice louder than solid state watts. I've noticed this in guitar amps, I tested a 45w tube amp against a 100w solid state and the tube amp seemed even louder (I know we don't perceive 100w not even nearly twice as loud as 50w) Both were quality...

    Nemesis 212 or 410 cab?

Thanks MM, I'm checking those threads you mention now! sorry for repeating. I was just curious to know what people would chose in a case where a 212 and a 410 weigh and cost nearly the same. I really have no first hand experience on this. I assume the 410 higher output would be better in my case...
