THIS. I have been using my 2010 SR300 since new and it is a dream to play. Numerous usable tones, extremely adjustable action (my strings are currently about 3mm off the rear pickup) and as such I am using it to audition at numerous music colleges, all of which have complimented the sound.

They are good for the money, no doubt. However, you have to think that most signature models are Fender, not Squier, and there has to be a reason for that...

Instead of a 8in, if money, time, age etc is no question, why not look at some Phil Jones stuff using 5in drivers?

For playing some Korn covers you should look at the Ibanez K5. It's Fieldy's signature bass that should come under $1000. Yes there is definitely something better for the price, like most other 5 strings by Ibanez, but if you want to play Korn then you will find nothing better to be honest.

I don't have a problem with thinking about what to play. My problem is getting distracted and sidetracked, so I'll end up thinking about that History test I've got coming up, or what I'll make for dinner that evening. Then I make mistakes.

Sadly, it's your own fault for saying no before realising how high profile the gig was. Can't cherry pick as you please to your own pleasing AFTER getting people in to sub. That's rude. And you would be kicked from my band instantly.
