I've got a brand new in the package black three ply pickguard for an American Standard P5 that I could be talked into letting go for a decent price. I bought it for my American Pro and just didn't make the swap. Hit me up if you think you might want it.

I had a walnut PB 4 that I loved after I swapped out the stock pickup and replaced it with an EMG Geezer. Played great and was well made. I only sold it to finance a new neck for my '95 Jazz.

Maybe you could leave it alone and save all of that modding for another bass in your arsenal. T-40's are a unique bird, enjoy it the way it is.

I gigged a PB 4 for a while and liked it a lot. It was a nice enough bass, but to me that particular model Carvin ( and it was still a Carvin) isn't quite as refined as say a Fender American Standard. There's another guy here that gigs a PB 5 and he seems to love it.
