Yes, BUT the baked-in tone (rolled off mids and highs) remains! You will not get the neutral poweramp sound, because the cab simulation sits behind the fx return.

i mainly use my compressor to get the timbre of anything between a mellow (light touch), agressive clicking (hard touch) , and barking sound (hard touch near the bridge) and many more....so MORE DYNAMICS and VARIATION....WITHOUT the big volume differences these string-hitting-styles provide...
