Fender Rumble Club

The first Monday of each month is "big trash day" where I live. That means you can put out anything and they will take it away. It doesn't have to fit in one of the two barrels. So yesterday, two crapped out 25 v3 combos went on the heap. Both had the same problem, one I'd seen someone else report. When you first turn them on the sound really bad. All you get is a lot of farting and static and the volume goes up and down dramatically. Leave them on for a few minutes and they sound alright. But, I pulled my 40 into service as my practice amp and like it a lot better. Since a new 25 is $99, I can't see putting any money into repairs. I would expect the repair tab to be more than a purchase. So now I'm down to 5 Rumbles.
So that means 2 days of the week you can't play?;)

Wondering if anyone else has experienced issues like this: Same problem at 2 gigs this week using the 800 Stage plus 15" cab. Outside, and we were playing rather loud, my vol set to 11:00 o'clock. On both nights, into later part of performance, volume dropping, less deep bass tone, notes had a strong attack instantaneously, but dropped down in vol and slightly distorted...switched my bass to passive mode, same results.
Gig #1: Turned off amp at end of last set, we were brought back for encore, switched the amp on and it suddenly was normal again.
Gig #2, same problems developed into set 2. Turned off amp between sets, and when I returned for set 3 the Stage 800 returned to normal operation for the entire set.
Would appreciate your thoughts...
Disclaimer: I don’t have a Stage 800.
Sounds like a heat issue. Fender Customer Service is pretty good. If it were mine, I’d call and start a warranty claim.

Just sold my trusty (and HEAVY) Eden 210XLT because I simply prefer my rumble 210 cab. That came as a shock to me, especially since I got the cab for free as some of you may remember.

Now I need to snag either another rumble 210 or another GK neo112 since I only own one of each. Decisions decisions...
Ah. A man on a quest.

I just learned about the gain structure that’s posted in the wiki, and using the master at full on like a tube amp.

Just wondering who has played around with this, and the upper limits for the Rumble amps. I hesitate to go above gain or master past 12:00– I would think the speakers are perfectly matched, and it can handle more.... but im scared!

So, who pushes their Rumble to the limit?? (Using a v3 100 fwiw)

i had the 100 and used it at jams with metal drummers...100% was not that much louder than noon because the limiter kicks in at the peaks. i used my 200h at 90%. the peaks when you dig in hard are not that much louder than at noon, but the overall volume is higher, super compressed...but also more muddy and undefined. no stress for the speakers in my case but i don't know how much the 100 can really handle. i went on to a powerful amp and a good compressor, so i can control my desired amount of compression without being forced to crank the master.

I would agree with "dawhatthevid" I have my v3 200c master at about 3/4 and the gain at 1/4, if I go any farther, yea, ...unwanted compression :eyebrow:

I play with a fat tone in general, but muddy is not my cup of whatever, clear and defined, without too much snap. We do southern rock style of music, covers n originals,

...not any room for slappin' n' stuff :wacky:

I usually run gain and master at noon for rock n roll; it just sounds like it’s on the peak of max. And just enough grit, IDK if I’d want any more. I also have 2 100s I’ve daisy chained before, for that extra kick. now I want to experiment with higher master and lower gain...

200c is awesome, I’d love one; but BL is insisting on 12s and IDK how much I’d use it currently. I guess it’s time for a 500h!

Darn. I'd buy a 200w head and 2x10 Bottom but Fender only has the 800w head now. Stinks.

If any BL ever insisted on 12s(or 10s, or 15s, or 18s, or__), I'd tell him I'll play through whatever you wanna buy.

I believe I'll do this. Get another Rumble 500v3. I love the Contour and Treble buttons with my SG Standard. As I pay it down, get the Harke 112HD 1x12 extension cabinet to put under it. Exact same width at 19" and only 34 pounds and not bulky. Should be a unique (great) sound with the 2x10's and a heavy duty 12". Oh, and a TC Electronics mini compressor pedal and Sub, up, down pedal.

Just turned off the horns on my 500 combo and 210...wow, what a difference! Sounds so much better...

How many of you usually use your Rumble(s) without the horn(s)?

John
Both. Depends on bass and volume. The louder I play the less I care for the horn. Had to sell it a year ago but getting a new one in a week or so. Probably going to put some Neo Basslites in her too.

Interesting mix. Now that the r112 cab is discontinued and they’re hard to find, it would be good to learn your opinion.
