Fender Rumble Club

Just came from a gig and was playing with volume levels. Did the sound check with Gain 12:00, master 5:00, but little bass guitar volume. Sounded bombastic, but didn’t have the guts to keep it there!

Moved to gain 12; master 3. Used my bass guitar volume , along with my ears and common sense to keep overall tone and volume in check. This high master volume thing sounds really good! A little gritty, just a touch, but really fat too.

I had the low mids up to 2:00 for a bit, but it was just a little too crunchy/clanky for my taste. Probably my P bass has enough mids, this just put it over the edge.

I settled on :
G 12, B 9, LM 12, HM 12, T 12, MV 3
Vintage on.
My bass guitar volume was at 50-60%; where normally with Master at 12, bass volume is up at 80 or 90%. Really like these new settings!

Rumbles are fun! :)

Just turned off the horns on my 500 combo and 210...wow, what a difference! Sounds so much better...

How many of you usually use your Rumble(s) without the horn(s)?

John
ME.<ETA>I only turn the horn(s) on when I play CDs through the amp on breaks.

Cool!

What was your HPF set at?

Nice of the BL to wanna spend your $$.
The thing that gets me, is I was all geared up to get the 500. He encouraged me to wait for something “nicer.” Since I have the 2 100s, it seems like a lateral move (to him) But he clearly has no problems with the Rumble performance and tone, since he told me to wait- He even recommended the Rumble in the first place! :banghead:

But at the end of the day, I’m not buying a dang thing that i don’t want to buy. And at this point, nothing is exciting me like a new Rumble!
(Ok, maybe a GK MB. I love ampeg tone, but I’ve read enough reliability complaints, they’ve pretty much been knocked off the list.)

.
Say, all you European Rumblers! A Danish shopper on another forum is looking for a Fender Rumble Studio 40, but finding European online vendors listing it "discontinued". I was wondering if international trade and tariff negotiations have brought about this, hopefully, temporary situation?

I'm asking in this main Rumble Club thread, instead of the Stage & Studio sub-thread, because I suspect it might be the case for all Fender, and possibly all American, products' availability in Europe.

Any European perspective here?

Another idea: let BL go find-and buy-you a pair of R112 cabs and you'll get a 200h to power them.

I wish! He keeps talking about “nicer, more efficient” speakers. Mark bass or Genzler, he seems stuck on. In your scenario, I’d have enough bread for a 500 head!
There are(supposedly)R112 cabs available online. IDK their condition or anything. I know mine is in excellent shape and is rarely used, but it ain't goin' nowhere.

I don’t think it’s anything like that. I’m not aware of any trade and tariff negotiations that would have this effect, and - trust me - if anything like that happened, it would NOT pass unnoticed. :)

The Studio 40 and Stage 800 is listed as available on both Thomann and Gear4Music’s websites, but on request. The regular Rumble range is available.

I suspect that it’s more a case of the Stage and Studio models not having gained any real traction in Europe yet. They’re relatively new products over here, so I suspect that most online retailers are slightly on the fence as yet.

I understand his take on Genzler. There’s a Heart tribute band I saw recently whose bassist is a Genzler endorsee. He sounded amazing at that gig.

MarkBass, on the other hand, has never impressed me when I’ve heard it, either in my hands or another player’s hands. But that’s just me.
Nope. You ain't the only one.

Actually, I played at an outdoor jam earlier this year where the backline was a Markbass Mini CMD 121 combo with an external 112 cab. I was surprised by the fullness of the tone. I’d happily play through that any time.
Once again, 'cos it was a sitting in situation, the one time I played through a MarkBass, I didn't mess with the owners EQ. I s'pose I could get a decent sound outta one with time to play with settings, but I'm not willing to fork over that kind of $$$ for an amp that looks like an owl while I own multiple Rumbles for less green.

Agreed. I don’t care for the Markbass look, the yellow speaker cones and the synthetic rat fur alone would keep me from spending my own money on one. Plus they’re expensive. Still, credit where credit is due - that combo sounded really good. I prefer my Rumbles, but good is good.

Haven’t had a chance to test a Genzler, and if I saw one on stage, I didn’t notice.

I got to play a mark combo for a set at a blues jam, thought it sounded pretty darn good. Not sure how much of that was the PA...

A lot of this comes down to money though. My Rumble 100 covers 80 or 90 % of my gigs ATM. I can’t see dropping $1K on an amp I’m only going to use for a handful of gigs.
