    Help with crackling

Do not use WD-40. If you choose to use Deoxit D5, use it very sparingly. The first thing to try is rotating the pot from one end of travel to the other - Many times. This will sometimes clear up the noise of a dirty or oxidized resistive trace in a pot.

Why did origin effects stop making big box compressors?

From the OE site: "Large Format Pedals are Discontinued After careful consideration, we have made the decision to discontinue our Large format Pedal range currently consisting of the Cali76-TX/TX-L and SlideRIG pedals. Although critically acclaimed and very popular, these...

Why do we still deal with 60 cycle hum?

Hum Debugger - In Strong mode it cuts both the Even and Odd harmonics.

Why do we still deal with 60 cycle hum?

IIRC the Hum Debugger uses notch filters. So there is a very narrow Q Cut at 60 Hz and then cuts at the harmonics. So cuts at 60, 120, 240, 480, 960, 1920, 3840, etc.

Clip on tuner and the low B

Peterson Stroboclip tracks the B accurately. As mentioned above you can try the 12th fret harmonic if your tuner doesn't track the B well.

PROBABLY a dumb question about tuners...

You can't go wrong with Turbo Tuner or Peterson. Personally, I definitely prefer the Turbo Tuner. Excellent tracking. Well thought out case. Plenty of features. Extremely accurate. Great for setting intonation. Bright led strobe display. Plus when I had a question on a Sunday and...

    Retrospec SqueezeBox & JuiceBox Owners

I haven't been in touch with them for quite a few years. Retrospec was a one man operation - Ken McKim. Design, final build and testing. Check out his considerable resume of experience. The marketing of the reissue of the Squeezbox was done by another very experienced, talented individual...

    Isolated bass tracks on youtube

When I mentioned Isolated, I was referring to a Clean track (as if you had access to the multitracks) rather than a track that is loaded with artifacts after the isolation process.

Any tips on diagnosing why my MXR M80 DI is crackling / hissing when running into a mixer via the XLR?

Doesn't this model have a noise gate? I assume you have tried turning down the distortion and the treble, as well as, adjusting the gate. Other than that there doesn't seem to be a quick user fix.

Does putting a combo amp on casters serve to decouple it from the floor?

The room modes, which can be particularly noticeable in a relatively small room, can also contribute to exaggerated peaks and valleys in the low end.

Does putting a combo amp on casters serve to decouple it from the floor?

If you are close, the bass will also couple to a wall or a corner. The corner is the worst with three boundaries. Mud and more mud.

Victor Wooten “Tone In A Box”

Its probably not a bad idea for endorsers to actually be seen using the product - if they want to keep the endorsement.
