    Translucent Sonic Blue

It can be helpful to start with a lighter mix. Then you can build up the color slowly with more control avoiding streaks.

    Translucent Sonic Blue

I used a darker grain fill. I think I started with 2 parts clear 1 part color, but I used a cheap preval sprayer. I did others using a gun and I used a 1:1 mix.

    Translucent Sonic Blue

It’s been years since I’ve done finished, but I did this very thing with Reranch sonic blue thinner with clear over swamp ash.

Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

Does anyone recognize this cab? I’ve had it for years but never looked into what it actually is. 2x15 and the only labeling is a GK badge on the back with serial number.

    Photoshop help wanted (SX content)

I'm not sure that the neck pockets match up. I had the short scale version of that neck and the heel was square. I'm not sure about the full size neck. You could of course shape it to fit the neck pocket of the body if it is squared off like the short scale.

    Pawn Shop Gems?

I scooped a squier protone for $85 from one of the local pawn shops a year or 2 ago. I see them on ebay going for between $300 and $500 now. Doesn't compete with a '62, but I was happy.

Recommend? MIM Fender P-bass or Fender Jaguar?

Get a jag and switch the front pickup to a P. That's what I'd like to do.

    Agathis-Built Basses?

Well, just to throw you just a little bit more. Squier affinities are made of alder not agathis. Standards are made of agathis.

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club—for the original six-string basses!

Couldn't afford a bass VI so I made this instead. Squier '51 body paired with a 30" scale neck. Ernie ball strings.

    SX body vs MIM Fender

In my case MIM fender body. 9 pieces of alder. sx body 3 pieces.

Would you consider this a bass?

I recently modded a squier '51 guitar to a bass VI, or I should say bass VI type of instrument. Moved the bridge back, modded a 30" scale bass neck to accept guitar tuners. String gauges run from 90-23 tuned EADGBE. I'm having fun with it, so I say go for it.

refinishing / painting service on the cheep?

You could put a post up on the reranch forum, or better yet do it yourself. It's not that hard. Question is, do you have another bass you can play for a month or two, since that is the mimimum it would take using lacquer. I would offer to do it for you, but I'm no where near you, and you...
