    Double Bass Wolf Note Solution

I saw this here. Thank you, Eric! Worked for me (mostly). It substantially reduced, but did not entirely eliminate the wolf. There is still subtle difference between strings, but wow, what a difference. Perhaps most noteworthy is that my lower octave was more resonant. Worth the money for me.

    Recommend an acoustic bass guitar...

Have you seen Linden Instruments? Linden Instruments Reportedly louder than any other acoustic. I've never tried one and would be curious to hear from someone who had.

Double Bass Famous Bass Players and their basses

And that's a great picture! I have only seen him play up close a few times, but I've seen him in many concerts. And I can't figure it out how he does it. His bow hold, the height of his bass together with the size of the shoulders... but yet he makes it look effortless. Has anyone studied with...

Double Bass EUB as transition back to DB?

My two cents: if you can swing it financially, get an upright, get it set up as Eric suggests, and get a teacher. To quote Klinghoffer, playing the double bass is either easy or it is impossible. If he loves jazz, nothing could be simpler than teaching him how to read quarter note walking lines. I bet that you could have him reading walking lines in F in four lessons. FWIW, I teach kids who cannot read (music or text). Your job will be a walk in the park by comparison (unless, of course...

Double Bass If you could go back to the beginning?

This topic is timely for me. I am now teaching my son (6). Like many of you, I didn't start until my early teens and I think that starting so late relative to other instruments can mislead the teacher and student into focusing directly on the instrument rather than music fundamentals. If I could...

Double Bass Bass Debate --"To Sit or Stand" -- That is the Question!

A few additional thoughts. Whether to sit or stand depends in part on: 1. The size of your bass. For me, it is much easier to stand with a smaller bass and our basses vary wildly: Invalid Link Removed 2. Your height in relation to the bass. The bent / angled pins only work so well if you have...
