Double Bass Wolf Note Solution

Hideo Kamimoto is a luthier who came up with a device made to tame wolf notes. It's called the Wolf Terminator. I purchased one a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to let everyone know that it works very well. I've used it on both of my basses and the wolf disappeared without the sound (resonance) of the instrument being affected, as with string weight devices.

$124.50 + shipping seems a little pricey, but then again it would be nice not to sweat in terror when an exposed arco passage featuring a fat Ab2 on the A string comes up.

Hey Eric,
Could you elaborate a little more on what it improved, ease of use, or any other opinions you might have? I am seriously thinking about ordering one. I'm not really liking the weighted eliminator I'm using. Seems as though my bass sounds more open without it.
Thanks!

I saw this here. Thank you, Eric! Worked for me (mostly). It substantially reduced, but did not entirely eliminate the wolf. There is still subtle difference between strings, but wow, what a difference. Perhaps most noteworthy is that my lower octave was more resonant. Worth the money for me.

I would watch the installation video on the website. It reflects my experience as I went through the process of installation and wolf taming. Maybe he offers a return policy if you don't like it?

Installed and eliminated the wolf in under 10 minutes!
Great recommendation, Eric.

Good purchase Selim!
I bought the WT a couple of years ago after Hideo put me onto a local luthier who had one.
I had to tweak the setting a couple of times - when I changed bass, then again when I changed strings. It was pretty obvious once it was adjusted correctly. It really evened out and sweetened the lowest few notes on the G string on both basses.

Another +1 vote for the Kamimoto Wolfterminator solution. My carved bass has a strong wolf on G. Not around, EXACTLY on G, ref to A=440 on the ALL strings, arco only. It became apparent only after I switched from Belcanto to Spirocore strings. Those of you blessed with this phenomenon can relate to the pain that it is. I saw a post here by Eric Hochberg in 2017 about his experience with it. Bought it and it solved the problem. Saved me a trip(s) to the luthier and $$$. Still have it on my bass.

Yes...another A+ rating. Quick delivery...quick installation...quick results! Yes, now my bass has little wart on it...it also has a tamed wolf tone and responds better. No other adjustment worked better. Two thumbs up! (ARCO)
