Have you Heard This Slap Technique?

You got me. That’s right, it’s a shake. First I thought that it was a thrill but then, don’t know why, it sounded me like a hammer on. About the DVD, I saw some samples and it looks like they know what they’re doing, showing great technique, sound and feel

Not understanding chord progressions on bass

Maybe the "understand chords" thing refers to building the bass line with the chord notes. Like an introduction for the walking bass.

Easiest Genre For A Bass Player

Agree with the blues stuff: seem to be easy to play but hard to get it right. I would say that indie rock, some pop stuff and punk rock roots are the best genres to start. But if you want to take this to the next level, some more complicated stuff will be involved.

    Adam Nitti "Liminal"

Still havent heard Liminal, but big fan of Adam Nitti. The man has awesome grooves and his lines are just amazing. The composition is one of the areas that I would like to improve, and surely if I'm doing some study on that, my goal is having the skills and taste of somebody like Adam.

    When covering songs...

Play what you got to play. If you need using a pick, just do that. Don't stick with that stuff. It's just the way that you're comfortable with. So, let that stuff go.

I'm just starting to listen Lamb. They have some incredible stuff!. Also, I would ask you some dub-reggae artists/bands for playing along.

Drop it low or wear it high, where do you wear your bass and why?

I started to play and wore my bass under my waist, it was too damn hard to get over the songs in that position so then I went right in my belt, most comfortable position ever.

Playing more than one note with fingers?

I play octaves or similar figures with my thumb and index. It all depends on how's that working with the player. I mean, there's a lot of stuff you can do. Just try all the suggestions here and find out which one works better for you.

    Locking in with the drums.

Hey Everyone, new here. What about to learn some basic beats on the drums? If you have time and access to a drum set, of course. I play a little drums (just for fun) and that helped me a lot on what to play or not to play. It gave a fresh new perspective about the groove.
