Yes the neck is original.

SRT80. That is correct. Makes sound post a lot easier. Just pulls straight out as it is held in place by six rare earth magnets.

Jake, The neck is original. The original tuners were missing when I got the bass, so I replaced them with the pegs.

My AS bell shoulder bass is number 399, which makes it 1938 I think. Bass is in very poor condition. Several cracks in neck heal, bass bar attached with screws, top held on with nails and a terrible refinish that stained the wood. About to start this project.

Matthew, I'm curious as to what you think would be the effect on the sound if you did this?

Yes it is MDF. Works fine. I made it for Mandolin tops and backs. Its not deep enough for a bass.
