    I don't like black basses...

Black basses are my favorite color. A black Fender with a black pickguard with the little white outline around the edge is my fave. I don't care for black body with white pickguard though. I don't know if Fender ever issued a standard P or J with black body/guard. My 84 SQ Squier P from Japan...

Getting bottom end out of P bass

Same here on the p and j thing. I use Both P and J. P gets way more playing time. I can use a P in most any situation with no regrets. The Fender Precision has balls like church bells!

    Fired by the singer

Sounds to me like you out of bad situation. Been there dunnitt. The sooner you get away from a mess like that, the better.

Getting bottom end out of P bass

The Fender Precision is the Stradivarius of electric basses.

Too much buzzing and clicking on my bass. Will truss rod adjustment remove that clanky/sloppy sound?

With all that clanky/rattly suff happening, it sounds to me like you may have too much tension on the truss rod and the neck doesn't have enough relief. Do you know how to "eyeball or sight" the neck for relief"? If not, learn how.

Just blew a cab for the first time

If you push an amp into severe clipping you end up with very close to a DC level voltage into the speaker which can toast a speaker pretty fast. I fried one Electrovoice EVM15B in a two-speaker cab. The amp was a 1970s GK 400B with 250 watts. I put a sine wave into the amp with a dummy load...

Do you dance when you play bass?

I fall more into the foot-stomper, top-tapper, head-bobber category when jammin. My general attitude on any type of dancing other than a belly-rubber is, "stay off the dance floor".

Are Shorter Scales the Hottest Trend in Basses Right Now?

I owned a short scale bass once.... once! The only way I could get anything out of it was to put big heavy gauge flat wounds on it. I'd think a short scale would be good for kids (or anyone else) with small hands to start out on. Maybe that's why there are a lot of short scales available. MFRs...

Don’t tell me that 70s P is now amazing

An A neck (Jazz) is usually 1.5" wide at the nut. The B is 1 5/8" at the nut and the C is 1.75" at the nut (Precision). I have owned two 70s P basses. I left one in a pawn shop on Beale Street. The other was stolen in a bar in Chicago. Never saw either one again. The early 70s (71 I believe)...

Am I a horrible bass player?

This has happened to me more than once. It can be a real drag but the more experience you gain, the easier it will be to handle. You haven't hooked up with the right players, that's all. Keep practicing and try to hook up with players that are in your league. One of the worst situations is...
