People who hit the strings HARD (with a pick), how do you not get unwanted clippping?

What should the bass play during a guitar solo?

It depends of course. But I don't subscribe to the notion that you per default should keep it simple and not step on the soloist's toes. I think a busy bass part very often can enhance the solo. Listen to Epic by Faith No More. So many tasty bass licks during the solo. Listen to Rex Brown of...

Are some basses built to have higher action?

I love high action. ...but I digress. I hope you find a solution.

Concerned About Where Live Sound Is Headed

Maybe I am slow but I don't understand where the evidence is. There may be some indications but we cannot be sure. I think we have different definitions of what real evidence is. Maybe a proper study has been conducted but noone has made any reference to it. That is all I meant. I do believe...

    My family's holiday cards (GEEZER!)

Love it! The Sonic Youth one had me in stitches!

Concerned About Where Live Sound Is Headed

No harm meant and thanks for the reply. It was more an attempt to point out the whole age gap factor when we discuss these things. Were things better in the old days?....and so forth. ...and you are absolutely right with emojis - it's a young man's game:laugh:

Winking Face Emoji Here you can read about the meaning of the winking smiley; it provides context and suggests that a comment has elements of irony in it. Thus it seems trivial to comment that the insult is stale when the emoji itself implies that I am aware of it - and that I am just yanking...

Concerned About Where Live Sound Is Headed

I hope you noticed the winking emoji. It was not a serious attempt at an insult. But hey... maybe things are different here in Copenhagen. I have attended so many great sounding smaller shows lately where I have been floored by how great the sound is.

Concerned About Where Live Sound Is Headed

I can see where you are coming. I still think the "evidence" in this thread is more anecdotal... and in a forum like this it's more a case of preaching to the choir... and nostalgia is a factor too. But hey I could be wrong. And I do recognise that there is a modern trend with huge...

Concerned About Where Live Sound Is Headed

Ok boomer ;) Nah...there are lots of great sounding live acts out there. I don't think anyone has the empirical evidence to claim otherwise. I think things are getting better in general. More knowledge, better gear, better understanding of acoustics...I could go on. Of course, I can't prove...

    surprisingly, my bronco...

...and I forgot to mention: I love my Bronco. It is fun to play, easy to carry and sounds great. Mine has been stringed with GHS Precision Flats and it sounds fat and warm. Usually, I roll down the tone knob a bit and go for that non-trebley oldschool sound.

    surprisingly, my bronco...

Check out my Bronco. It is black like a starless night and it has been decorated with these awesome Hama Bead-Space Invaders that my 5 year old son has made. Of course, it has now been dubbed the Bass Invader.

Using Parametric EQ as a Poor Man's HPF?

What has ben established? Like most folks, I have a simple 3 band EQ on my amp. How can I crank the bass and still take care of my speakers in an efficient and precise way without using HPF?

Using Parametric EQ as a Poor Man's HPF?

Dude... Some people find it to be an improvement and a cheap addition to a rig they might otherwise be happy with. Heck it may even prolong the life of your beloved speakers. What exactly is the problem here?
