I play in a metal band with some dubstep influences..and sometimes i need to make some slap and on the melodic parts some tapping, but i can't make them to cut through the mix. I play an Yamaha BB G5S. What should I do ?

I am playing metal with some dubstep bridges. The tunings are going to drop C and drop B . What would fit better ? A 4 string or a 5 string ? And any suggestions for a bass that is suitable ? Now i have an ibanez sr3006 but it.s not working so well in the mix. I will sell it for 700-800 euros...
